We stayed 7 nights in the Adult Select Section on the garden side, which was peaceful and quiet. One thing we enjoyed was the sound of the birds. Little traffic from time to time, but nothing terrible. Beautiful clean room with all the amenities. This section is quite a way from the beach, but we didn't mind the walk. If you don't like to walk there is a shuttle available from the lobby. The food was great, buffets had lots of choices, and especially the pizza it was awesome. (One comment if you have high blood pressure, be warned they use loads of salt on their meat/fish at the buffets, so we asked for ours without). We really enjoyed all the ala carte's our favorite being the Gourmet (French) men had to wear pants and closed in shoes, but the experience was great. Juhnny was our waiter, he was very good. Next we would choose the Meditteranean and then the Steak House. We were disappointed the Italian Buffet Restaurant was not in operation at the time, we had read great reviews and we both love Italian, but all meals were again, great. The staff was very friendly and courteous. The only complaints we had were the entertainment. Our first night we enjoyed the Rock Band, they were incredible, but after that it was all down hill. For a resort of this caliber we expected more high end entertainment. Also, do not take the snorkelling trip from the resort, this was a disappointment. The reef was very small, with lots of fish, but only the same kind. The worst was we had to follow the guide the whole time. Had we known this before, we would not have wasted the money. My final comments are that this was a wonderful vacation, we loved the hotel and the weather was beautiful, we would not hesitate to stay at this resort again and we would recommend it to anyone. So thank you to Sandos for making this vacation a great get away.

Room Tip: A room on the second floor with balcony overlooking the garden or jungle. It was nice and quiet.

The room that we were given when we got to the hotel was AWEFUL!. When we went to the front dest to explore other options, we had the pleasure of working with Guimeel who went above and beyond to find us another room. We ended up loving our new room but it weren't for Guimeel, we would have been miserable. Thank you!!

Room Tip: Ask for the Hacienda's. They are alittle further from the beach but they have individual pools a...

My husband and I just stayed at the Adult All Inclusive section of the Sandos Playacar Beach Resort and had a fabulous time. We stayed 7 nights and were able to get 3 dinner choices at the several restaurants. We chose Mexican, Steak House and Medditeranean and enjoyed them all. The Buffets were great and the drinks just kept on coming. For the price and location of the hotel, I'd definitely recommend it. I ran most morning in the Playacar area by myself and felt very safe. We rented bikes one afternoon and enjoyed riding to Playa. Taxi's were $7 each way into Playa which was definitely a great stop. We ate at the Blue Parrot and it was delicious!! Service at the hotel was fabulous. I was a little concerned about how far the adult area was from the beach and other restaurants and its literally a 5 minute walk. We enjoyed the Adult pool with swim up bar and snack cart. Loved our suite and view of the jungle!!

We went on a timeshare tour deal, we got through work. It is a very nice resort. Big, spread out, you don't feel too cramped, but most of the activity occurs around the main pool and that can get a bit crowded. They have shuttles around the grounds if you don't want to walk. The location is a bit isolated, so you'll need to take cabs if you want to go anywhere. Transportation wasn't an issue. Food was good. Consistent. Good variety. Great fresh cigars if you like those. All in all a good 5 day escape!

Room Tip: Try to get closer to the beach if you can, but even the buildings farther from the beach have a pool...

We recently visited the Riviera side of this property and have to say it was quite beautiful. A big minus is that the property is not beachfront, its counterpart is, and this takes away from the beach ambiance one looks for on beach vacations. While being all-inclusive it is quite discriminating in where you can dine. That brings me to the food - the Asian restaurant was the only one from the choices that actually had food tasting better than the fare at the buffets. We are vegetarians and after extensive research chose this resort. The staff tried to be very accommodating, it seemed, but the end result was pitiful at best. We requested a vegetarian paella - we got a platter of boiled rice with some veges on top for decoration. Common, this is Mexico, this is your best?
The rooms are very well appointed and comfortable, do agree with all reviews read about very hard mattresses and pillows, but the staff do try to accommodate as much as possible.
All in all, it was enjoyable holiday.

Room Tip: Higher floors to avoid noise from above, for quiet request not overlooking the pool.

This was our 10th time to Sandos and each time it gets a bit better! Check-in was quick and smooth - - we arrived about Noon and our brach-front room was ready. One minor glitch was our room fridge was not stocked for the first 3 days despite our leaving a tip each day for housekeeping. This was a bit of a let-down, but being the bars were always nearby, it really wasn't that big of a deal.

The service throughout the place was terrific. Bar service was generally good, though our beachside drinks lacked any real alcohol and this combined with the desire to cop a beach-buzz in the late afternoon made that feat rather difficult. The buffet's were great as usual...great selection of food and the fruit and veggies were terrific...much better than what we can get at home.

We ventured to the Asian restaurant which was great! The air conditioning was not working the night we were there, but the food and service were great! We also visited downtown one night for dinner and shopping and that was fun. Downtown Playa Del Carmen is as safe as ever and walking from shop to shop was a great way to spend the evening.

The beach was great too! We spent most days on the beach - securing our spot early morning and enjoying a full day of sunbathing, book reading and cocktail sipping! We had one hassle on day two that was a first for us in 10 years of trips to the Riviera Maya. Two women in our group chose to bathe topless - as has been our practice since vacationing here. Most times, there are about 10-20% of women on the beach doing the same. The past couple of years, however, it seems like there are fewer people doing same. This fact, unfortunately, really seemed to highlight the troll-perverts also in the area. We had one couple sitting a little bit behind our group and this guys wife was sunbathing (fully clad) with a headset on and appearingly sleeping. While she slept, her troll husband had reached for the camera in their bag and was snapping pictures of the few topless women sitting in the general area. Seeing this, I warned the troll that should his camera turn in our direction, he would certainly require a camera-ectomy. He left shortly thereafter and we didn't see him again for the remainder of the week. Sad and disturbing...but certainly not a reflection of common practice here.

Overall, the trip was terrific! The hotel does a generally great job with everything. We look forward to returning next year.

Room Tip: Spend the extra bucks and get a beach-front room. It's worth every penny!

We just got back from our 2 week stay at your resort where we got married on the beach March 22nd and now I just have a few things to let everyone know who is thinking about going..
There was 20 of us who went as a group and we were treated like family from the moment we got off the bus..I would like to say a special thanks to Lepita(our wedding planner) she was amazing and took care of everything perfect..
Everyone on this resort works hard for your stay to be a good one from the activity people who are there before we get up till after we go to sleep and are very friendly and always happy to talk for a few minutes..to mention a few of the ones I can remember are Renato (who was awesome) Ricardo(very easy and friendly to talk to) Fabio,Carlos, and Anna(she was always nice to talk to) but they all work very hard
The waitstaff was very friendly, always smiling and eager to serve from the buffets to the ala cartes and I did notice that once in a while they did not come to our table right away but they did let u know they notice you and I watched and there was not 1 person standing around for more than 30 seconds without doing something(our canadian waitstaff could definately take lessons from this) one thing I did enjoy was 1 waiter and 1 waitress that I had would not get me anything unless I asked for it in spanish as they patiently kept repeating it to me in spanish till I said it right then applauded when I got it right and I enjoyed that since I learned a little spanish
The maids cleaned our rooms very well and on the occasions we were in our rooms when they came to clean..they did not get mad even if it was later in the afternoon they just smiled and left but no matter what it was cleaned when we came back later in the night.
The gardners and grounds keepers did an amazing job and even tho there was a few times I had a question and they couldn't speak english they did not just walk away from me..they actually quickly went and got someone who could speak english to help me out..and they work hard long into the night to keep the place looking fabulous every day.
even our 2nd day we noticed our tv didn't work so at 7 am i phoned and asked for a new tv if they had one to be changed out sometime during the day( it was no urgency since we weren't there to watch tv) just if they could replace it sometime during the day and 5 minutes later there was a knock on the door and 2 men were there with a new tv for us.( which i felt bad cause i think we only turned it on 2 times in our 2 week stay cause we had so much fun out of our room)
In closing I would like to say we have been at a few other resorts in mexico and I am very glad we chose Sandos to get married at cause it couldn't have been nicer and now we don't need to go anywhere else cause we have found our home away from home and will be back for many years to come.
P.S. for anyone to complain about this amazing place and staff go to a different resort cause I say you are not worthy of such a nice place only happy people should stay here to match the staff.. I salute Sandos and their staff on a job well done.

Room Tip: There are "fancier", "newer" rooms in the Adults only section, but we choose to...
