My daughter and her fiance picked this property because they wanted to get married on the beach. Very beautiful beach. The wedding planner, Laura made things very easy and enjoyable.

A big thank you to cesar, judith, laura, alma, gerado and blanca. You guys made our trip a pleasure.

If you love a beautiful beach this is your place.

Room Tip: Ocean view was beautiful

We stayed at this hotel on Apr 16-23.

Service is excellent at this hotel. It only has 200 rooms. The staffs make every efforts to please you. It seems that their wage is a little higher than other hotels in Riviera Maya. That's why they have more passion to serve the customers.

Location is great. About 100 meters away from the ferry terminal to to Cozumel. 50 meters away from 5th avenue. One night, we walked the whole 5 th ave up to 38 street. Very nice. Be aware, the hotel is right below a small airport's take off track. You may get waken up at 8AM due to the plane's take off noise. It only happens one or two times/day though.

Beach has very soft white sand. The hotel's neighbourhood are condos and there are no other hotels. So the beach is not crowed at all. If you walk along the beach for half hour and close to RIU place area, you will see totally different scenario. Thousands of people lie down there.

The food quality was above average. But not much selections though. We tried Italy restaurant 3 times. Excellent service. We also tried romatic lobster dinner at beach. Lobster is over cooked.

They gives $1000credit/room for 7 nights stay. We used the credit to swim with the dolphin, massage at spa, romantic dinner at beach and professional photos. I suppose they charge $1500 per adult for 7 nights. Those $1000 credit maybe worth $300/room.

We also have noticed that this hotel's mainstream customers are from corporate event or group travellers. It is not seldom to see hundreds of people coming and leaving together.

We planned a funjet vacation thru a friend who is a travel agent. We had a great time. The hotel is beautiful, the service is outstanding. The staff goes above and beyond what i expect for all inclusive hotels. Everything was very clean. The food was excellent, even the food in the buffet style restaurant. We went for our Anniversary/Birthday celebration. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, friend or family.

Room Tip: We were on first floor around the corner from a main entrance to pool. A little noisy in the mornin...

Great location. Proximity to the ferry boat gives quick access to Cozumel. All the rooms seem to have an ocean view and we could see Cozumel. The beach was the best that we've seen from our trips in the Riviera Maya. The resort was smaller than we are used to, but the excellent service made up for that. The size of the resort resulted in such personal service to accommodate your needs. We were overwhelmed with the attention. We were a tad taken aback at first, but soon realized it was a genuine desire to please the guests.
No fighting for pool or beach chairs or going out at 5am to secure them. Poolside personnel had drinks in our hands even before we finished our last ones. Nora is an exceptional member of the hotel’s staff. She was so attentive to everyone; always greeting us with a smile and what she can get for us. Once she got a feel for what we needed, she was on it before we even realized that we were ready to order.
We traveled with 2 young teenage girls. The resort isn’t as large as the ones we have visited in the past. On the first day we expressed the concern that they might be bored. We met Greta. She ran the pool and beachside activities. She went out of her way to keep the girls engaged, even stopping by to play games with them when organized activities were not taking place. She was a valuable asset during our stay. Our girls had such a good time during the down time (for the adults) – both during the day and the evening shows/activities.
The food was excellent at the buffet; the best we’ve had in our trips to the Riviera Maya. We did not eat at the Italian restaurant, but the Asian restaurant was a pleasant surprise. We liked it so much that we even ordered from it for room service one night. Be sure to order a Mayan Coffee. I thought I was just getting a cup of coffee after a great meal. It was a treat; be prepared to be the center of attention and have a great show at your table. It was a really special treat to the end of our visit.

Review-
Hard to beat the location but the cost vs value is a bit high. This is a nice medium sized property located a 100 feet from 5th ave. Hotel does not have the wow factor- grand entrance and lobby that the larger properties do so if that is important to you this may not be the type of property that you are looking for.
Pre check in: 2 separate emails to the hotel asking for information were never answered
Check in: like many we booked an ocean view room with the hope but not expectation that we could use our credits for an upgrade. What we were not prepared for was not even getting the room we booked! We booked a king bed ocean view and received an ocean view with 2 full beds, this was not what my wife booked for our anniversary. When we went back to the desk to straighten out the mistake we were informed that there were no king rooms available for at least the 1st night and that your confirmed prepaid reservation does not guarantee the room that you booked. The desk clerk also let us know that 30 other couples did not receive the rooms that they booked. A very poor business model considering that you are guarantying payment whether you show or not. We lived out of our suitcases for a day and did get an upgrade day 2 that we paid for with resort credits
Beach & Pool:
Super view, super beach and super staff. Unlike other resorts that we have stayed at there were always lounge chairs available. Yes the chair hogs who tie up a seat all day with a towel and paperback are here too but there always seemed to be enough chairs available around both the pool and the beach. This is where the resort excels. They may not have acres and acres of pool like the big resorts but it doesn’t matter if you can’t get a lounge or the location is undesirable.
Dining:
We went in with an open mind knowing that this property only had the main buffet dining and 2 theme restaurants. Our thought was that we love to walk 5th ave and planed on picking up a lunch and dinner during the week offsite. I would suggest that if you feel you must eat on site every meal to get your money’s worth you may feel frustrated by lack of variety. It was disappointing to dress for dinner at the 2 restaurants only to find out that they did not enforce the published dress code so you too may very well enjoy your anniversary dinner next to guys in shorts, baseball caps, flip flops etc. We found this to be the norm in both restaurants every night. I think the property owner needs to decide if they really want to offer 2 ‘upscale’ dining choices or perhaps one upscale and one semi casual.
Resort credits:
A word of caution here to first timers. This is not a freebie but a prepaid expense on your part. I am not opposed to the concept by any means after all I frequent all inclusive which is a prepaid trip! The point is you must read the fine print on how it can be used, and decide if the activities are ones you would do anyway. We golfed (enjoyed) but I would not have spent the money had I stayed elsewhere. We went to the spa (very much enjoyed) and would have done so had we stayed elsewhere. If you do not use up your credits or use them to buy goods and services that you wouldn’t otherwise buy then you will have paid the equivalent of one of the high-end resorts while only staying at nice mid-level resort.
Entertainment:
The resort had very talented acts every night with a good mix of client participation and spectator only shows- something for everyone.
Transportation help:
The staff really exceled at helping guests get into the right vans and double checking passenger lists for tours etc. Take a minute to check with the staff to let them know where you are going when you get to the lobby to await transportation for your tour or if you want a taxi; they will take all the worry out of the process.
Overall impression:
This is a nice midrange property. If you want a location close to 5th ave, a great beach, and do not like the sprawl and crowding of the large resorts this is a good choice if you can get a good price. Just be careful to look at total cost for your trip and view the resort credit as a prepaid expense rather than a cost reduction. I loved the beach, location and the staff but felt it was overpriced for what I felt was midrange. Others may find it a good value

We visited again this year, the playacar palace, because we missed it and it is only 20 min. away from the more remote palace Aventura spa palace where we were enjoying staying in one of their presidential suites. Playacar palace is elegant and romantic, while in a prime location. The location is right down the beautiful white sandy beach from the playa del carmen ferry to Cozumel, senor frog's and many other restaurants and a lot of shopping. Location is just part of it.You walk into an outside lobby, then walking through white gauze curtains blowing gently in the tropical breeze, there is a bar/sitting area with a view, then the pool, a beautiful beach !!! Playacar palace has the best food ever, you can choose from a wide variety from fresh and healthy to hearty to decadent desserts, in a bright and clean atmosphere looking at the blue ocean. Outside, poolside is complete with a swim up bar, they were grilling meat, The biggest challenge was deciding where to lounge!...so many choices! It is truly a relaxing experience. I haven't experienced the spa here, didn't want to leave! My husband raved about their golf course, a short drive away. It's small and friendly, feels like we are in a home away from home.
