Not a huge concrete jungle but rather a quaint on-the-beach bit of elegance nestled between the sea and the jungle. A smaller hotel with excellent restaurant and bar. Friday night happy hour with entertainment. Dive shop, wind-surfing, canoes, snorkeling. Flag down a Collectivo (shared white tourist van, safe and low-cost) to Puerto Aventuras or Playa del Carmen for days or evenings of adventure. Or taxi. Paamul and chill!

My husband and I chose Paamul over our typical Sandals vacation and we were so happy we did. Our room was beautiful, beach phenomenal, food/ drinks delicious, and staff amazing. We are already planning for it to be our next vacation spot.

We come to Paamul Hotel every year for the last 7 years. It is really one of our favorite places to travel to. You cannot beat the hotel, small yet very comfortable and right on the beach. The view never gets old. The restaurant is awesome with great food and the friendliest staff! We can't wait to get back to paradise!

A small hotel overlooking the ocean with a small pool and restaurant so you don’t need anything else. What started out as an RV park and hotel has evolved into a quaint little community of Palapas each different from its neighbor. A dive shop onsite just in case you wish to explore the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean. Come for a day or come for a lifetime, the choice is yours

We were so excited to come here for a vacation. We read so many good things about Paamul and it sounded exactly like what we were looking for. OMG - were we wrong! All we wanted was a beautiful, quiet place away from the madness of Playa Del Carmen or Cancun, but what we found was an overcrowded mass of people. I should have known something was up when we pulled up to the security gate and saw and endless stream of cars parked on the side of the road, but after the 15 minute wait to actually get through he gate, we were redirected to park 100's of meters beyond the hotel and pool area. There were cars, trucks, and vans everywhere!

Thinking (and hoping) this was just a special event or something, we walked up to the office where we proceeded to wait another 15 minutes outside the door before we decided to take a walk and look around before committing to staying here.

The bad vibe we were feeling turned out to be justified as we walked over to the pool and beach area. At this point, we both realized we didn't want to stay here because of how many people there were in the pool and in the beach area. In addition to the noise, the pool was so full, that I don't know how we could have gotten into the water. Worse than that though, was how dirty and cloudy the water was. There were probably 25-30 kids in the pool and you could literally see a slimy film on the surface of the water.

Upon walking down to the beach, there was literally no place for anyone to comfortably hang out. I overheard a man complaining about how management had sold out so I asked him what he was talking about. It turns out he actually LIVES in Paamul and that many of the residents have been complaining about how they are letting anyone in to use the pool and beach. Apparently, this was not the case before, but the new management was letting people pay to get in, so this is what happened as a result.

My wife and I decided to leave. We work too hard to waste our money and short vacation time on a place like this. Disappointing? Absolutely, but there are MANY other places where you can get a quiet, relaxing, beautiful vacation in the Riviera Maya. Luckily, we were able to change plans at the last minute and get out of this place.

I just wish I had taken pictures so others could see how really bad this place is.

Room tip: If you want peace and tranquility, don't go here!
