Beach location and access very nice. Staff very accommodating, especially Gerardo in dinning and Daniel in sports. Buffet food and choices good. A la cate restaurants excellent. Quiet and cozy resort with every thing within easy reach. Dont need a shuttle to the beach or buffet, like at the Mega resorts. Hotel lobby and facilities good for the price point. Rooms clean and Ok, but beds and interior a little dated. Great for a nice getaway, without being trampled on like at the Mega resorts. If you needed more action, disco and additional activities available at the Sister resort, 8 minute walk. Resort in a double gated golf course subdivision that is safe to walk about anytime. Charming small mall a 5 minute walk on the way to the sister resort. Playa 5th Ave shopping or ferry to Cozumel, $7-8 taxi ride away. Ferry ride to Cozumel island $8 each way, and a must do, if just for the ferry ride itself. Some kid activities here, but it appeared the sister resort Maya had more to offer the young ones. Restaurants and sail boats need reservations early in the day. Bicycles, kayaks, paddle boards, etc available anytime. Didn't use gym, spa, tennis courts, tours service, massage, doctor, etc etc., but was there if needed. No waiter drink service at pool or beach, but pool bar, snack bar, and self service sodas steps away from beach. Every thing is close by. Great staff and safe location, on large beach is all we needed. For the price, highly recommend !!!

Great atmosphere, Great beach, enjoyed the Fresa margarita and the Fresa Colada. YUM
Food at the Buffet was a little bland for my liking, the fruit was amazing. Forgot how tasty watermelon with seeds was compared to the seedless, tasteless modified crap we get at home. recommend going to the grill for eggs in the morning.
we tried most of the a la cartes, which were for the most part great. The mexican one at the Wyndyam Maya was fantastic.
Cannot say enough great things about that beach.

Rooms were good, the staff was fantastic. My fridge was refilled every morning.

This resort caters to Europeans, mainly Germans, and they like to smoke, so if you are one of those who are offended by second hand smoke maybe go to a resort that is "smoke free". I wasn't bothered, or chose to not let it bother me, as I already knew there would be smokers there when I booked.

My only complaint was I had to go home..

My recommendation BACON!!!!!!!!!!! not a slice to be found all week.

Room Tip: don't forget to tip the cleaners. 5.00 US/day

Amazing service, great food and perfect location! There are many restaurants in the resort as well as one buffet place where they change the themes. The staff was incredible. The only thing was the resort was very family oriented which wasn't what three young girls were looking for but there many close places such as 5th avenue where young people go and socialize so it wasn't bad. It is also located on a beautiful beach ! I would defiantly come back

First of all, this place will get you to pay for everything .... safe, WiFi, and such. It mainly caters to europeans and you will have chainsmokers everywhere which is bad for kids or anyone. There are only 3 restaurants on the property of which only one (italian) is good, other two are just horrible. Whats worst is (which they don't tell you) that you can reserve at restaurants only twice during a 5 night stay and 3 times in a 7 day stay. Rest of the time you are stuck eating at the butter which is HORRIBLE and UNHEALTHY. The a/c in the room don't work well and the rooms are humid.... extremely uncomfortable. The front-desk staff wasn't very friendly either. Room are outdated, no soap bar in the room just cheap dispenser shampoo and body wash. Overall a bad bad experience.

Room Tip: Just avoid this hotel

What a nice little resort. Second time staying at the Azteca and the stay was very enjoyable. Check in was quick and we were able to get a room the second day that was more to our liking. As usual we made some friends with the staff and they are eager to please. We were also able to get an extra a la carte dinner for one evening and all meals were very tasty and well presented. If you are looking for a smaller resort with a great beach, many guests of various nationalities that accommodate couples and families with small children, then this property is a great value for the price. I would highly recommended.

Location: About 45 minutes from Cancun airport.

Travelled with 2 children aged 7 and 9. Fifth time in Riviera Maya, first time in Viva Wyndham Azteca.

Hotel: Small hotel, quiet, well take care of and clean, staff is friendly quiet and give you total privacy. No one will be in your face, everything is done quietly and with relaxation for the guests. The guests are typically well behaved and clean up after themselves. No garbage/glasses left laying around. Bonus points for being environmentally friendly--love the reusable cups and optional straws. Because the hotel is small, everything is very close-bar, bathroom, restaurants, your room if you forget something and the beach. From lobby to beach its not even a two minute walk. Very convenient for families because its easy to keep eye on children.

Rooms: Clean, quiet and really well positioned. Close to all the amenities because the hotel is nice and small. The maids always made little creatures with the towels. Soap and shampoo in containers on the wall. No small containers of lotions etc. Bring your own.

Restaurants: the food was good. Something for everyone in Buffet. The a la carte restaurants had excellent service, great food and atmosphere. Again small, intimate and private.

The beach: amazing beach. Clean and lots of space in shade or sun. Free rental of different water equipment (body boards, paddle boards, kayaks etc). Daily yoga, volleyball.

Kids club: seems to be well run, kids are looked after by staff who has lots of different activities for them to do.

Would definitely recommend this hotel to families/couples who need a quiet getaway to de-stress.

Room Tip: All rooms are well positioned. We enjoyed first floor for convenience. The upper floors have very sm...

We've only had one night here, so can't comment too much on the Resort features, however so far I've been unimpressed. One small pool and last night's show was not very good. What has really ruined the vacation was the check in experience. I made the hotel reservation months ago for 2 adults and 2 children. The confirmation stated that the 4 night stay required 60,000 points and $0. Well 3 days before check in I received an e-mail saying that the points only covered the 2 adults and we'd have to pay for the kids at check in. No mention of what that cost was, but our flights were purchased based on us being able to use points for the stay, so there wasn't much we could do. If this had been e-mailed or let known when the reservation was made, we wouldn't have continued with this trip. Anyway, after a 45 minute check in process we're told that we owe $829 for 2 kids to stay 4 nights! Since 1 just turned 13 a couple weeks ago they get charged as an adult, but still $207/night for 1 kid and 1 adult with no prior warning seems like a scandalous business practice? We would've never come here if they would've disclosed that we were going to be charged for bringing kids.
