We had a wonderful time at Mareazul! The condo was lovely, well maintained and nicely decorated with everything we needed. The kitchen was well stocked, plenty of towels (including nice beach towels), nice bed linens and even wifi. The building was set back a ways from the beach, which we didn't mind, but not really any views. Deborah, our concierge, was fantastic! She took care of every detail for us- restaurant suggestions, tickets to local parks, groceries etc. We had a broken blind and shower door and she had them both repaired in a few hours. The one complaint we had about the condo was that the jacuzzi didn't really work. There wasn't even enough hot water available to fill the bottom of the tub. We had a lot of rain while we were in Playa, and the kids would have loved using the jacuzzi. I asked Deborah about it and she mentioned that was a problem all over Playa, not just this condo.
The Mareazul property is beautiful, well manicured and maintained. We used the gym and it had nice equipment and was good sized. The pool is beautiful as well, one of the nicest I've seen. However, it was not heated and was absolutely freezing. Our kids managed to get in a few times, but lasted only a few minutes. There were numerous "hot tubs" throughout the pool area, and unfortunately they were as cold as the pool! I must say that was extremely disappointing. The beach, however, was beautiful! Nice chairs and plenty of umbrellas, and the seaweed was cleaned up every morning. The ocean water was much warmer than the pools. We had a great time at the beach. It is very quiet and private. There is a small beach club just a short walk away, but I don't recommend it. It was very worn out, you can tell it was beautiful back in the day, but now it is literally falling apart. We had one meal there as I was a bit tired of cooking, the food was ok, full bar though.
The drive to Playa is about 10 minutes, but you really see the unpleasant side of Playa along the way. I was pleased that we had security at the entrance to Grand Coral and again at Mareazul. Pretty rough looking right outside the gates. We rented a car while in Playa and we liked having it to get to groceries. However, parking in Playa is next to impossible. Very few parking garages, and almost no street parking. We did find a parking lot that sometimes had space attached to the mall. The shops and restaurants are fun, lots to do in downtown.
Overall we had a great time. The condo was great and the property was beautiful. If you are looking for quiet and relaxed spot this is a great option.

Very quiet and not crowded, very nice beach.
Liked least:
Unheated pool and hot tubs, very disappointing when traveling with young kids. Absolutely freezing!
