We stayed in a second floor three bedroom condo at Riviera Maya Suites for a week leading up to Thanksgiving. We had high expectations for our stay because of the reviews on TripAdvisor, but everything exceeded our expectations.

**CONDO**
We had 4 adults and 2 kids (ages 4 and 7) on our trip and everyone loved the condo. There was tons of room, everything you could possibly need in the kitchen, furniture was comforable, etc. The main balcony was huge (two hammocks, wooden table with 4 chairs, plus 2 other cushioned chairs). We overlooked the pool (which was small, but nice) and had a view of the "lighthouse/lookout tower" at Las Palapas. Even though we weren't on the 3rd floor, we had a beautiful view of the canopy/jungle landscaping of Las Palapas and the area on the way to the beach. Each bedroom had it's own bathroom which was beautifully done and tons of closet space. The beds were fine (not super comfortable, but adequate). We had a full laundry room in our unit (full sized washer and dryer, ironing board, etc. -- laundry soap was provided). There were separate air conditioning controls in each bedroom and in the common living area. There were also tons of ceiling fans.

**AMENITIES/STAFF**
The pool was nice and never crowded (we were never there with anyone else). It had a nice small wading area for the little kids and then the rest of the pool was 4 ft deep. There was a nice waterfall feature and it was overall a pleasant little pool. The roof top deck was great -- nice chairs, sink, etc. up there. The only problem is there are not enough lights up there to hang out at night....we went up for happy hour one night and brought up snacks/drinks and ended up eating in the dark b/c the one light was burned out. The staff was great and super responsive...we had a problem with one toilet on the 1st day and it was fixed within 30 minutes and there were some minor issues with the Wifi which were also fixed quickly. As far as the maid service, it was outstanding! The condo was cleaned top to bottom every day and the maids took a lot of pride in their work. They left cute towel animals for the kids and everything was immaculate.

**LOCATION/LAS PALAPAS**
People had told us that Las Palapas (where you have beach club privileges) is on the best stretch of beach in Playa and they're right. The beach and beach club are great. The little bar is nice (and you can leave a credit card # with the front desk at Las Palapas so you can charge things) and has good drinks/food. The chairs and Palapa umbrellas are great and we really enjoyed being able to use it. The pool at Las Palapas is a little bigger than the one at RMS and it's fun for something different. We also checked out the Fitness Room and Spa and they both looked nice. There's also a lady who has a pottery painting stand down by the beach at Las Palapas which is a fun activity for the kids. Finally, we thought the location was great....we liked being on the north end of 5th...close enough to walk to plenty of restaurants, but far away enough to not feel caught up in the hustle and bustle.

My husband and I stayed there for our honeymoon and it was amazing. All inclusive which means food all day every day. The people were so nice. Right on the beach. Pools all around the hotel. Wonderful A/C in our suite. Best week of my life!

The first thing to say is that Simona Humme (apartment manager) is a great hostess. Far before we arrived for our stay, Simona had responded to every email inquiry I sent about the apartment, the area, and things to do with children. She made our stay so easy! All other staff are professional and friendly. By end of the week, we felt like good friends.

You receive beach/pool towels daily from office. You can use the small pool there or use the pool at Las Palapas hotel. We mostly chose to head towards the beach at Las Palapas as the water was clear and warm. It was us and just a few other guests due to low season (or swine flue scare?), but we had a blast just sitting under the palapas, swimming in the ocean, and having a cerveza or two.

The location is very good. Essentially, it's at the end of 5th Avenue (the shopping/dining strip) and we walked there each day/evening. However, you have a full kitchen in the suite so you can also make a quick trip to Walmart, grab some groceries, and make your breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner in suite daily. Simona helped us with a renting a car as well so we could make some trips outside the town.

Next time we visit, we will definitely be staying at Riviera Maya Suites!

shortly after leaving RMS by the transfer bus RMS had arranged we were stopped by a pick up of the town authority as the bus of Cancun should not have been authorized to pick up passengers in Playa del Carmen. Endless negotiations started. Taxi community members, newspaper reporters appeared, a lot of mobile calls were made but nobody cared if we (6 grownup, 2 children of 7) got our plane to Europe or not . It is not our decision if anybody is allowed to transport us or not but things like that should be solved by the mutual advocates and not by taking tourists as hostages. We only came home because the plain was delayed.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your comment on Trip Advisor.

Please accept my apologies for the problem you had with the transportation from the Hotel to the airport. We verified the situation with the transportation agency, as they are a serious legal business with all authorization they need to offer their services and we have a long time working with them, we were surprised about that happening. It happens that the persons who stopped your driver claimed to be part of SINTRA (Secretary of Infrastructure and Transportation), they where trying to steel the service or getting a bribe, in a clear act of corruption. The transportation agency already pressed charges against SINTRA.

We really appreciate your comments, which help to detect these situations and preserve a good service in the Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo.

We hope you arrived well to your homes and we are looking forward of hosting you again and provide you with a perfect stay in a near future in our Riviera Maya Suites.

Best regards,

Simona Hümme

Riviera Maya Appartments has provided us an very nice and agreeable week in the Mexican sun. Our appartment was new, large, modern and equipped with everything we needed including wireless internet access. Located at a quiet spot in Playa del Carmen but with the famous 5th Avenue at three minutes walking.Beautiful tropical gardens and access to the neighbouring hotel and its beach and catering facilities. Very good service and friendly faces at the receptiondesk and daily cleaning.
We certainly recommend these appartments as a pleasant way to visit Playa del Carmen and Mexico. And by the way, the beaches and sea were like everything we expected of the Caribean.
