“Grand Sunset Princess/Yucatan Platinum Suites”
Reviewed 23 January 2012

Stayed at the Grand Sunset Princess in the Yucatan Platinum Suites in January of 2012 and it was the BEST experience and birthday I have ever had. The resort is spectacular with beautiful marble tiles, lush grounds, dozens of palm trees and some of the best, hardworking staff I have ever encountered. The food was great and there was a lot to choose from, even at the buffet. The nightly entertainment was amazing and the drinks were great. It is a very large resort and its maintained extremely well. I definitely would recommend this resort to anyone. It is something that definately needs to be experienced to be appreciated!

Room Tip: I recommend the Yucatan Platinum suites which are quieter, especially if you want to sleep late in t...

Wonderful, huge resort. It is kept immaculately clean. Lots to do for the kids and adults. Tons of pools and restraunts. only downfall was the rocks and bottom of the beach , made it impossible to swim. I highly recommend ging to tulum beach and xel-ha!!!

Room Tip: Platinum side

i have been to the grand sunset riviera princess in the mayan riviera for the eight time.. the hotel is just as beautiful as when it first opened, its clean, spacious, the staff is very pleasantand accomodating,,the grounds are manicured, the rooms spotless, the beach fairly well kept.the service excellent and the food at the restaurants and at the various buffets were to die for and so were the drinks . however for the past two years i noticed a lower. standard as to the quality of food being served.brand liquor who were initially included in your all inclusive are no longer available unless you pay extra.quite a few guest would rather go to playa del carmen for a good seafood dinner including crabs, lobstersand shrimps,,speaking of which were non existent ascompared to previous years.the rooms no more slippers,no morebathrobes,no more kleenex no more lotion etc etc.now for the beach until two years ago you could go to the beach and not be bothererd by salespeople and you could relax and even sleep on the beach without being constantly beingapproached well.. not anymore thevendorsl of the hotel are now constantly harassing you and being very insistant about it for you to purchase for massages, pictures with the iguanas, the perrots the monnkeys, the sun glasses .the cigars and the dam cocobongo visits.we even jokingly mentionned that we should open a business making signs sAYING NO MASSAGE,NO PICTURE NO NOTHING AND NO COCOBONGOS and sell tem off. so yes te resort i sbeautifull but unless they shape up their act they will definetely be loosing longstanding client to the point that im considering looking for another resort

Room Tip: platinum with the jacuzzi on the balcony and one in the room, junior suite deluxe with jacuzzi in roo...

First... don't listen to sniveling, ungrateful people. We've been to Mexico 17 times, on both sides of the coast and this resort is incredible! No problems ever. Other than some people 's whining kids ( and there were few ) and demanding tourists who can't appreciate what a good life they have, we will definately return. The beds were the best in 17 years. Go Platinimum, its worth it. The spa is heaven! The beach is great...sand is like powder. Food was amazing. We were treated like royalty. A fantastic place in every way. Very impressed.

Room Tip: If no kids, ask for adult only section. Very quiet.

I just wanted to let anyone planning on staying at this hotel a few positives on this hotel. The hotel is beautiful with two different sections.Sunset and Riviera. We stayed at the swim-up rooms on the Riviera side. We could not use the pool because the sun never hit that side of the building. I guess it would be alright in the summer. We stayed here during the Thanksgiving week. The hotel staff is very friendly . The hotel staff are always cleaning, our rooms were always clean and tidy. But the shower did not drain properly and left water in the floor as well as in the toilet stall. Floors get extremely slippery. If we used our hair dryer when the air conditioner crank on we lost all electrical power, and so did the couple staying in the room across from us. Thank goodness I carry a flashlight. Mainteance took about 30 minutes to arrive. Also everyday around 5:30 pm the bug sprayer guy would come out on is quad and spray for bugs, hold your breath who knows what chemicals they used. You could hardly breath if you got caught outside. PLEASE bring water shoes there are alot of rocks in the water and a steep drop before you get in, but once in the water is great.
