As an owner at Christie Lodge, I was excited to stay in a newly renovated room this year. The changes aren't astronomic but were much needed. The entire bathroom was re-done with new showers with glass doors and a new vanity. The kitchen was upgraded with a full fridge and a single burner on the countertop. There are now wood floors (or laminate) throughout which is nice, but only one rug at the front door. Another rug in the living room would be ok, especially in the morning walking to the kitchen on the cold floors.

Other than that, it was the usual nice stay at the Christie Lodge. Nice smiles from the front desk as we were coming and going and helpful advice with whatever questions people have.

Room Tip: ask for a renovated room. About half are finished

We booked a three bedroom condo in Jan for a ski week in CO. We booked directly through the the Christy Lodge, and we told we would have a beautiful room, with a view. We arrived after a grueling 14 hour drive through the Rocky Mountains. We were initially greeted by the front desk staff with a warm welcome. We went to our condo, and discovered it was on the bottom floor with a wonderful view of the freeway. We went back and asked for another unit, and we were gruffly told that since we booked through Hotels.com, too bad. We advised the clerk that we booked directly through the Christie Lodge(first lie). We she realized that she was caught, the “enforcer”, night supervisor, came to her aid, and told us we were here on TX ski week, and nothing else was available(second lie). He then became agitated and said we could leave and try to find another room if we didn’t like it. We begrudgingly accepted the room. The room was okay, but old and outdated in need of repairs. The following day the manager, called us, and moved us to a third story room with a Mountain View. Again, room was okay, in need of updating. We did not receive parking passes, and went to the front desk to get some. The clerk pointed to a desk, and a less than customer service attitude, stated you get those over there. Again, a complainant to the manager who smoothed it over. We were reluctant to ask the front desk personnel for anything because they were so unpleasant. The lodge is close to the major resorts, but in need of updating. It was clean, and close to restaurants. So, buyer beware...

Hello Ron. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and for booking directly with us through our reservation department. My apologies for the miscommunication about your reservation. I reviewed the details of your reservation and saw that you booked on Hotels.com originally, then cancelled and booked directly with us. That may have led to the confusion, but either way, it sounds like we could have handled your situation on a more professional manner. I will follow up with our director of operations about your experience. We are working on renovating all of rooms and hopefully, we can get you in one our our updated rooms for your next visit.

Been staying here for the last 5 years (sometimes twice in one year) with my husband and his family for ski trips. We've stayed in both the one and three bedroom rooms. It's always been decently clean and staff are nice. The avon skier bus picks up in front of the hotel and is one of the first stops on the way to beaver creek so you'll always get a seat...also means it's the last stop on the route back. Hotel is within walking distance of a several restaurants, a walgreens, and city market. My biggest gripe with the hotel the last few visits have been that everything is beginning to look extremely worn. The rooms and bathroom are starting to feel kind of old and yucky. I refuse to sit on the fabric sofa anymore. Actually this past visit, our AC/heater was not working and the shower did not get hot and had horrible pressure. The bedding feels like the cheesecloth stuff from your grandma's house. They claim they just spent a ton of money renovating the rooms but we have yet to stay in any room that has looked any different than it did 5 years ago. I also have tried to pay attention while walking past rooms being cleaned when the doors are open and also have not seen these supposed "renovated" rooms. They have been boasting about these renovations for years and the running joke in our family has been that they don't actually exist. We're pretty much to the point where we're exploring other options for our next trip, despite staying here at least 5 + times

We’ve been coming to Christie Lodge for over thirty years. We don’t even want to trade our timeshare for a different place! The staff folks, from top to bottom, are warm, helpful, friendly, accommodating and just plain nice! Located in the Vail Valley, it is the perfect jumping off point any time of year for numerous activities, towns and ski resorts. The fact that three generations of our family, as well as extended family members, continue to stay happily to Christie Lodge, speaks for itself. Note: the rating system below was not responding, so giving my ratings as follows:service 5, location 5, rooms 4. It’s a great place for building family memories!

Room Tip: Rooms are currently being remodeled. Ask if one of these is available. :)

Room 320 was clean and shiny. I had asked for a view, but was told all refurbished rooms faced I 70. Lightblocking curtain worked well, shower had plenty of hot water, lighting and wifi were excellent. Room was too hot at times with no control over temperature. Pillows could be improved upon. Maid service was superb.

Room Tip: High floor

Thank you for staying with us and for taking time to post your comments. Our third floor suites can run warmer, but you should have been able to control the temperature. We will promptly take a look at that thermostat to make sure it is functioning property. I will pass along our comments about housekeeping to our staff. Hope to see you back again soon.
