We just returned from 5 wonderful days at Thuya Lakes Lodge. We had such a fantastic time! I have read all the other reviews and if you are not into a nice relaxing outdoor adventure in a totally rustic environment then no this is not the place for you. Neil and Haley were absolute excellent hosts and we truly enjoyed their company as well as appreciated all that they did for us. Neil has extensive advise on the fishing front which was totally helpful and Haley is an absolutely excellent cook and hostess. We fished a few of the lakes and having boat access at all was fantastic. The cabins were exactly what we expected them to be what we didn't expect was all the serene beauty surrounding the lodge. Neil was wonderful in sending people to different lakes during the day so that you were not bumping into each other and totally enjoying your fishing experiences. The power does shut down for a few hours during the day and around 10:30ish during the evening but when you spend a day out hiking or fishing or mountain biking this is not an issue at all. In fact we found it very relaxing as there was no one staying up late making a ton of noise. The Lodge was not hard to find at all and the roads were not nearly as bad as some portrayed them to be. I highly recommend Thuya Lakes Lodge to anyone looking for a nice relaxing outdoor experience and we will definitely be going back!

We also just spent 4 marvelous days at Thuya Lakes Lodge, an easy 6 -7 hour drive from either Seattle or Vancouver, B.C. Our time was spent in a very private, pristine, natural setting allowing us to observe the solitude of nature. The fishing was excellent for fish ranging from 10" to 2+ lbs, a frisky Kamloops strain of trout--delicious!! Most of the fishing was done in outlying small lakes in total privacy (1 party per lake). The cabins are all cited on the main lake. We mostly cooked our own meals, but they can also be provided. The dinner we had was excellent!! The cabins are clean and provide all the amenities necessary for self containment. Neil and his daughter Hailey were friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous and are also happy to smoke and clean your fish if desired. If you enjoy fishing and a wildlife experience in a natural surrounding, this place is for you. If you expect a $400/night, totally catered, blue ribbon fly fishing experience, maybe it's not for you. In the course of 40 years of flyfishing and exploring many camps and resorts, we would rate Thuya Lakes among one of the very best.

Just returned from 4 wonderful days at Thuya Lakes Lodge. We had a fantastic time we had. Contrary to what I read in one of the other reviews (which was total nonsense) the drive to the lodge is easy and convenient and can be easily done with a regular vehicle (we drove a van).

The lodge setting is great, remote and scenic. Neil was a wonderful host, always there and ready to help and give great advise. We very much enjoyed his company.

We had 4 days of great fishing at the surrounding lakes and really enjoyed our time. Having direct access to dozens of lakes with nobody else on them was truly amazing.

The cabins are clean and comfortable. Yes, the power shuts down at 10:45 but contrary to what the other poster said it was not a problem whatsoever.

Recommend this place for sure and can't wait to go back.

A complete package for anyone looking for a great experience - whether as a family, or a guys weekend away fishing on a lake a day, all by yourself. Great cabins, fully fitted with skylights to make bright and cheery, and Neil is an amazing host, with all his knowledge and stories, this place makes for a lifetime memory. Thanks for the individual lake access, fish tips, and above and beyond service in delivering motors and batteries out to the remote lakes. My family enjoyed the cold smoked trout as a bonus upon returning at home. Nicely surprised with how good the road was into the place, the fish cleaning house, and being right on the lakes. Hope to be back in the near future.

Room Tip: checked out all the cabins and all nicely furnished and plates, etc. in there

If you have ever had aspirations of fly fishing from a float tube, this may be the trip you are looking for.
3 years ago i joined some work colleagues and customers (good friends) for a 5 day trip to Thuya. I was completely taken back by the lodge and its surroundings. It was nothing short of beautiful, with our cabin facing one of the many lakes in the area.
Our lodging was really good, with hot showers and wash-rooms very close and always very very clean. The owner Neil and his family are are there for YOU! they make sure every need is catered for, the main lodge has wi-fi, satellite TV and a very nice sitting area to just relax. Cold beer and wine is available.
I had never fly fished before, but with some help from my friends, it wasn't long before i had my first fish on my line. On average each guy (8) caught 4 to 10 fish every day, with average size being 13- 17 inches. Some caught 20+ inches. My boss caught one we couldn't measure as it was bigger than our nets and after more than 30 min to bring it in,we released it immediately so it could survive another day.
The road in is not that bad at all, directions to the lodge are very easy to follow. A 4 x 4 would be a benefit, but certainly not a must.
Neil made sure all directions to the many lakes were very clear and precise.
His Daughters may be 2 of the more polite and helpful teenagers i have ever met. From cleaning fish, to cooking or cleaning, they were always available to help guests.
Private fire pits for each cabin are fully stocked with ample firewood for your entire stay.
Not sure what other people expect in fishing trip, but i am allready excited about next year.
Thanks Thuya and its staff, see you in 2016.
