“Best value for an AI in Los Cabos”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 April 2012

I stayed here the first week of January with my husband and two sons the first week of January 2012 - we booked 2 junior suites all- inclusive and were given connecting rooms in an excellent location overlooking the sea of Cortez. I have to say, for the price we paid, it was an incredible value and exceeded our expectations. The view from our rooms was wonderful, we could even see cruise ships in port in Cabo.

I loved the grounds, the location on the cliffs (I knew there was no beach, did my homework), in fact, I really enjoyed the setting on the rocks rather than a beach - it was spectacular. I fell asleep on one of the bali beds listening to crashing waves - fantastic! Yes it's a long walk to the lobby, but we never took the carts, we like the exercise. The pools were lovely, swim-up bar was fun, lunches were tasty. Breakfast wasn't the greatest unless you got the made to order omelets, which were very good. The view from Maria's restaurant makes up for any shortcomings with the other selections in the buffet.

Dinner was pretty good if you knew what to order. The tortilla soup was EXCELLENT. Chicken mole was delicious as was any of the grilled fish and vegetables. I think it might get old having only one (two if you count the formal side) restaurants, but we were only there 3 nights.

I loved the traditional Mexican charm and decor of the rooms. The entire resort was very pretty. The location was perfect too - close to downtown Cabo but not in Cabo, which is a plus for me.

The only downside is that the service was not always the friendliest, but all-in-all, it's a wonderful resort for the money and you can't beat the all-inclusive plan, especially with a family. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hacienda Encantada to anyone, and it's head and shoulders above other all-inclusives hotels in the same price range.

We are owners here. We have gone on many timeshare owner tours and after staying here we bought. We also have friends that bought and they love it as well. We go to Hacienda Encantada for our anniversary and we will be spending our 20th there this year. The staff is like part of our extended family. Great place to visit, great place to own.

I booked a trip through jetsetter.com. 5 nights. The location is set on a nice perch with outstanding views of the blue water. When we arrived we were greeted nicely and checked in quickly, subsequent to check in we were shuffled over the concierge who immediately tried to pitch us on a time share breakfast at the hotel. In return for the alleged hour and a half we were to spend with the salesman they offered us 15% off the resturaunts and bars. We opted out of the sales pitch considering the fact that we already had 20% off discount through jetsetter on food and bev. and had no intentions of buying a time share. It was annoying to be pitched right when we arrived or at all for that matter. After check in we settled into a room that did not have ocean views as we had been promised in our reservation. I also noticed that they had given me the wrong discount card at check in( 15% instead of 20%). I notified them of both issues. After being in the room with minimal to zero ocean view for two days they finally moved us after we griped 2-3 three times a day, it also took them two days to give me the correct discount card. Furthermore you had to show them the discount card at every resturaunt or bar rather than them just deducting the discount on all charges at the end of the trip when you check out.

Overall the experience was good but we had to be persistent to get what we paid for. Food was great, the service at the bars and resturaunts were great but the management left somethings to be desired. Beautiful location, clean and spacious rooms, great pool overlooking the beach.

Great place, great location and views. It is distant from downtown/marina but we preferred that. We rented a car (which is always a hassle with negotiating extra fees/insurance at the airport). Restaurant food at breakfast is good but preditable each day. Meals later in day are not good quality and high priced. Staff at front desk check in do not fully know answers to many questions - maybe intentionally. After knowing you will pay 10% gratutity/service and 14% tax., they ask you to agree and sign for an additional $7 per day tips, When we asked staff on ground/golf cart drivers and bars/restaurants about if they get these tips, they all said no. People in time shares shared the same experience stating they just tip additional to these staff as they probably do not get paid well not get the tips given in these contracts, That is poor policy and I think the deception fo front desk is intentional and they probably just take those extras for profit. Maybe some guests don't mind that, but it bothers me and distracts from the experience one wants at this kind of place. Otherwise positives- clean drinking water, nice pools, well kept grounds, clean, great room service, nice friendly staff on carts and on grounds. Manager is very visible, so let him know your needs and comments. Need more umbrellas by pools.

Room Tip: Get clear undertstanding about where and to whom tip money goes. Go to marina to eat for better pri...

Hacienda Encantada is a gorgeous resort! The views are some of the best in Cabo. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because the service in the lobby is a little slow. It takes FOREVER for the valet to bring your car when you need to go. The rooms are absolutely beautiful, the sounds of the water crashing into the rocks lull you to sleep every night and the sunsets are amazing. I would definitely recommend this resort!

Love:
The decor, how clean it is, the incredible views from the front building, the employees are so nice and it appears to be very genuine. Nancy at the front desk was very helpful. It is so homey here we did not want to leave. Love the theme nights they had, the retro show was great. The firepit at night, with a guitar player singing good songs next to the firepit and the little bar all lit up next to the firepit-just too awesome. So cozy and charming. We own a studio here but wish we had a one bedroom.

Negatives:
At check in they tried to get us to pay a $11 per day fee to help pay the security workers. We were staying for 17 days and this would have been alot of money. It was sort of presented like we had to do it. My husband flat said no and then they backed off and said it was optional.
While we were there someone ate lunch at one of the pools and charged about $36 to our room and another night someone ate at Las Marias and spent like $86 and charged it to our room. They could not produce any receipts for this. Room numbers and names need to be more private. Like when I bought something at the grocery store on site they asked my room number and then he looked us up in the computer and said our full name back to us. Well the people in line behind us then had our room number and our full name. They could then charge anything to our room. Good news: we told them that we did not charge those items and they took it off with no hassle. Don't wait until check out to deal with your bill. Look at your bill a few days prior to check out so if there are issues you can take care of it.
Internet: Sometimes it worked good, sometimes it was sooo slow, other times I would have to re-connect like every 5 minutes. I was working there alot-one day what should have taken me 5-10 minutes took like 1 1/2 hours.

Feedback to Hacienda Encantada:
1)The front pool got a little crowded-some days we coud not find chairs. If you brought in more sand to the beach area below and put like 20 chairs down there it would be awesome. We would have sat down there at the beach every day enjoying the views.
2) Get better internet
3) My husband says get more American T-V channels (I dont think that is important)
4) More reasonable spa prices would keep your spa mroe crowded and you would make more money

Warning: I would not take small kids here because there are alot of retaining walls set up to capture the views with no railings and huge drop offs on the other side. For adults and older kids just fine or if you watch your kids like a hawk, but small kids running around playing in a few areas could easily be hurt. The balconies seem safe off the rooms and the pool that is open right now, the one not next to the ocean looks very safe for kids.

P.S. We felt very safe in Cabo. We ven took an 1.5 hour drive to Todos Santos and walked around the adorable town there and we never encountered anything that made us feel unsafe. Everywhere we went we felt safe and were treated nicely by all the locals.

We have been back from vacation now a week, and now we have chance to comment on our stay. As an owner, I was really disappointed to see that the HE was being run like a hotel!!! The food at the restaurant and the service is poor!!! When we bought the timeshare, we were told this would not turn into a hotel!!! We look forward to returning every year, hopefully it will not be a hotel next time. I would like to suggest, that the owners should have special deals, may be give us a 20% diamond card, and use of the phase 1 pool only and everyone else uses phase II. We have put a lot on $$ into the HE, and have certainly enjoy it, but PLEASE WATCH THE STANDARDS!
