We rented a unit at the Coral Baja through an owner (http://www.cabovacationgetaway.com), which was a great value. The owner was extremely helpful and friendly, responding to all our questions within the day. Our unit was on the 4th floor with an amazing view facing the pool, beach and ocean. The unit had all the amenities (even wireless internet, plus a cooler and two boogie boards!) and mostly new appliances (old dishwasher).

The resort is nice, clean and very well maintained. The pool area with swim-up bar is party central all afternoon, with happy hour, great music, activities, etc. If you get tired of the party scene, you can walk a few steps down to the beach and hang out under a palapa. The week we were there, the average age of the guests was about 50 or so, mostly a middle aged crowd.

The Coral Baja is in a good location. It is not in the main part of town (which is not a small town, like I thought), and probably too far to walk to the main town square/shops, etc. You can walk to the Mega Mart and many restaurants, but I would advise renting a car. We got a great deal through Budget and rented at the airport, and it was actually not much more money than airport transfers and constant taxis would have been for a week. We paid about $30 per day (which included all the fees, mandatory insurance, etc.). It was great to have the car for daily excursions (Santa Maria beach and Chileno Beach for snorkeling, Cabo San Lucas, Todos Santos, and many trips in to town for groceries and restaurants). Without a car you would be stuck at the resort a lot and wouldn't have the freedom to explore the area.

We stayed in a one bedroom deluxe. The unit itself was spacious enough for two people. If there were four adults, it may be crowded with only one bathroom. The unit had a washer, dryer, which worked great. It appears that most of the rooms have a view of the ocean. Most of the loungers had bird poop on their headrest. It didn't appear that anyone bothered cleaning them. Other than walking the beach, there really is no place to walk to, other than a couple of other small restaurants. The onsite restaurant, Mama Mia was average at best. We had the fajitas one night, and they were good. We had sea bass, the second night, it really was so overlooked, I had a hard time even telling it was fish. Would I return, most likely not.

This was our first visit to Coral Baja Worldmark, and to Los Cabos. We loved the place. The staff was friendly, paying attention to our needs, every single time we asked for assistance, which happened for various reasons almost daily. The activity desk and rental car guys went out of their way to make things happen for us, Victor, the activities lead at the pool was excellent in constantly keeping us entertained at the pool with bingo, volleyball matches, table tennis, Texas Hold'em lessons, water aerobics, and generally good advice about various out of resort activities. The pool was clean, water was warm, and the grounds were impeccable every morning. Flowers and lawn, palm trees, bushes, everything was well maintained. The food at Mamma Mia was delicious, we ordered several items throughout the nights we dined there, and everything was very good. Sopa Marisco was the best, and if you have not tried it, you should. It's a sea food combination that will stimulate your taste buds quite a lot. The staff was very attentive. They had a few special events which seemed to be organized weekly, such as Karaoke nights, Mexican Fiesta, both very entertaining, a rock band concert, and a poker night at Papalote, the bar next to Mamma Mia. They have vendors coming every night with quality items. Back to the pool, the Happy Hour 2 for 1 special was the main attraction of the afternoon, with lots of drinks flowing for the little ones (smoothies) and for the not so little ones... They had a movie night (Happy Feet Two) one evening. If you happen to be around for the night with the full moon, make sure to pay attention, as we've seen something that you don't see every night: the moon rising from the ocean, as we were facing the south east shore of the Baja Peninsula. It was something majestic, a huge moon rising from the same place where the sun rose in the morning. The 1brdm apt was in building one, facing the ocean, 3rd level. Twice we woke up early to see the sunrise, and capture some amazing photos through the palm trees. Clean, decently equipped, it was a good place to sleep, with a large king size bed. Mega store is close, 10mins walk, with a huge selection of food and non-food items. Take a cab back home. ScotiaBank is nearby, across from Coral Baja, and they have an ATM with a good exchange rate 12.25 pesos/USD at the time of exchange (first week of April). Another small restaurant, Sardinia, had good food as well, we ate lunch one day there. We would highly recommend Nana Rosa as your choice for a restaurant in San Jose Del Cabo - see review of Nana Rosa separately. Back to the resort, I should say that the waves are huge and make swimming far from the shore dangerous, but the water was warm and you could spend lots of mins trying to break the smaller waves reaching the shore. The sand is excellent for castles and little children. An excellent nearby attraction was the Dolphin Discovery - Swim with a dolphin activity. If you attend the WorldMark presentation (no need to buy more points if you don't want to), you will get discounts to two activities, which will make the swiim with the dolphin very reasonable priced. And you get a discount for children around 10 and under. We loved this place, and we'll make Coral Baja our choice for future spring breaks.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in Building 1 or 3. Building 2 is near the street, in the back area of the parking lo...

If this is your first visit to San Jose, this may be okay, but now that I have been to other resorts, I know that this was NOT okay. The front desk staff were kind but did not go out of their way to make it memorable. I stayed at a resort, not an apartment rental, and there are some things that should go with staying at a resort. A maid needed to be scheduled for a fee, and was not provided for a 7 day stay. This means they did not change out your towels, remove garbage or replace toilet paper. We were asked to take our garbage to a drop location and a staff person would take it from there...are you kidding me. The biggest disappointment for me, was that there was not a server in the pool area, to take food and drink orders. This has historically been where we spend the most money, enjoying beverages pool side with over priced chips and salsa because we are on vacation and this trip $0. The lack of service encouraged us to purchase our own from the Mega store and to travel around town to eat at other locations and not stay on site. Also beware of using phone cards, even though the front desk said they could be used in the rooms they failed to inform us that there would be a $6.20 connection fee, per call. A huge shock at check out! The grocery just off site, Super MiniDicks, offers free calls home with phone cards. Our final bill, 3 couples at $37 each, plus an additional $285 in connection charges for the phone. A plus...the guy in the general store is awesome and very helpful with answering questions. This was not for us!

Stayed here for a week in early March. Upon arrival the front desk girl was doing her job, nothing more and that was very apparent. The only building that we as Wyndham owners can stay at is Building 2 - the building near the highway with no view of the pool or ocean. In fact renovation was taking place throughout the resort and our view was of the green tarped area where all of the appliances and construction items were kept. We envisioned having our morning coffee enjoying the sunrise watching the breakers from our deck each morning, but not in building 2. We had a hot tub it was noted that they clean them daily and I never saw them clean it once the entire time there. Our unit was lovely. Barbeque was nice and very clean. Building 1 and 3 do have lovely views of the pool area and ocean. Sunrises were awesome! Beach was beautiful. Was relaxing just disappointing. El Herradero Mexican Grill in Old Town San Jose was our favorite restaurant . We won't return to this resort.

Room Tip: Get a unit in Building 1 or 3. Don't exchange money prior to arrival as front desk will do the e...

We loved our stay at the Coral Baja. The welcome staff is so great. Lupita and Aislin answered all of our questions and no question is a dumb question! They are great representatives for the WorldMark. The activities manager Victor is the BEST!!!! He remembered me from a few years ago and I was glad he was still there. He does water aerobics and bingo every day along with other fun things like bocce, ping pong, beach walking and stretching. He even moonlights as the Casino Dealer on Casino night. All of the evening vendors were very reputable. Real silver and hand made goods – cool stuff, not the mass produced items you see everywhere. We did the time share presentation and got some free smoothies from Emerald City Smoothie as well as 500 pesos off our bar tab. It only took about an hour and half.
We were lucky enough to follow a whale down the beach that was about 100 yards off shore. It was just relaxing and playing and put on a pretty good show for us.
The location is the best. It is only a mile from the Mega (walk there and cab back) and stock up: get the fresh tortillas in the back of the store as well as the home made pico and guacamole. Visit the bakery and load up on some of the freshest pastries you will ever eat. The Manchego cheese there is the freshest we have ever had. Buy the fresh stuff in the center of the store where all the deli cheese is. Stay away from the timeshare people and make sure to tip your grocery bagger. They are kids that get to work there a few days a week. This is a privilege for them because they are getting good grades in school.
Try to get a room higher up so you have a better view of the water. It is also nice to take the stairs get some exercise instead of using the tiny elevator. Only buy drinks on Happy Hour!!! 2 for 1!!!! Miami Vice and Dirty Monkey are where it’s at.
This pool is awesome. It is soooooo warm. You can float in it all day. The man who cleans the BBQ does an amazing job. Every day he spends about an hour breaking it down and building it back up like new. We used it every day except for when we ate at Manuel’s Creative Cuisine. Look it up – outstanding!
Don’t buy any trips before you go – if you plan on going to lovers beach just go to the dock and start bargaining for the best price.
There is a great little antique shop and café just up the road. If we had more time we would have gone there more often. There is also a wine shop “El Wine Shop” that stocks all kinds of varietals from the Valley de Guadalupe.
We are already looking forward to our next trip back to the Coral Baja.

Room Tip: Don't be in a hurry to check in. Tell them you will wait if it means getting a room higher up...

Nice spacious rooms, fully equipped one and two bedroom apartment style rooms. Helpful but not over friendly staff. Above average pool with swim p bar and nice hot tubs. This was my third stay and the previous staff was much more attentive but they are adequate. This is a nice place but it could be better.
Not an upscale place but comfortable. The beach s nice but usually not swim able.

Room Tip: Ground floor is great access to the pool
