The resort would not be the same without fun team employee A. Luna ( his first name is slipping my mind but I know it starts with an A). His excitement and enthusiasm kept the activities live and and fun. He truly cared about the people and made sure everyone had fun!!

This was the best family spring break we have experienced. Our room was clean and offered a beautiful coastal view. Luckily we were there at the time of whale migration and saw whales swimming by the hotel. The hotel itself is majestic and presents such a "wow" factor when you check-in. A baggage porter (his name escapes me but his hobby/interest is "Chess" on his Westin badge) did a thorough job orienting us to what the hotel offered when we checked in. He was professional and welcoming.
We adored the Activities "Fun Team," who engaged much of the pool population in fun games such as football throwing (how far), volleyball, water balloon toss/catch game (so fun), water aerobics and many other activities. Special shout out to Omar, the manager of the Fun Team, who lead the activities and encouraged the younger children and made sure they all felt that they were winners regardless of the actual game results. Sergio, Fernando, and the third Wellness/Fun Team members did exceptionally well and I appreciate them encouraging us to join in activities as we had fun.
Mario N., the pool concierge, is a complete asset to this resort. He helped us with umbrellas, towels and drinks when we needed them. He was kind, professional and very attentive to making sure we had what we needed. He remembered where we liked to sit on the beach and helped us get those chairs or close to those chairs. I have been to other places (Hawaii) which getting any pool/beach seating feels like general admission at a rock concert...whew! NOT HERE, Mario was wonderful and took the stress out of finding seating at the beach. I have to thank Pablo at the pool bar for WONDERFUL attentive service. He could remember the cocktail I loved and made it so very well. Wish I could have another one of his Thai Margaritas right now, ha! Lunch staff at Coralline, the pool restaurant were very kind and proficient.
While at the pool we took the "Guacamole Cooking Class." If you have the chance, it is worth the time to see Chef Reynaldo in action. He did a beautiful job teaching the audience how to craft excellent guacamole. It was delicious guacamole and a complete experience I will not forget. He was very efficient and knowledgeable in his area of expertise.
I do not know the names of the individuals who provided housekeeping services the week of March 24-30th to Suite 1925, but they are angels and did a lovely job. They should be thanked as we had a clean suite and the area always looked so good after they finished. Someone on this staff gifted us with artfully folded towels in the shapes of loving swans, a crab, a monkey and a rabbit. We were delighted and amazed by this talent!
Samuel at El Ciruelo Restaurant is a wonderful, attentive professional and worked very hard to provide a premium dining experience. He encouraged our 18 and 13 year olds to practice their Spanish with him and this was very kind of him to engage with them directly. We appreciate him.
Thank you to Front Office Manager, Hector Mejia, for our delicious chocolate amenity and welcoming note from him. You are doing a great job managing such a wonderful, fun resort.

Room Tip: Rooms on the upper level offer a great view.

We got a special rate form the Westin resorts for the newly redone Westin in Cabo San Lucas. We normally stay at the Hilton just down the road.

OK first he good news. The Westin reopened after dealing with issues from the hurricane a couple of years ago. They have completely revamp the rooms with a modern look and feel. Plenty of outlets, lots of USB ports, nice little kitchenette with a real coffee maker. Free Wi-fi for up to ten devices int eh room and throughout the resort. The staff are friendly and greet you everywhere. They truly want to help

Now the bad news. The biggest problem with the new rooms is how thin the walls they are paper thin and you hear everything going on next door. For the last two nights we have been woken up be a screaming child next door at 4:00am then toddlers playing until they leave the leave the room at 8. That wouldn't be too bad if the adult pool area was quiet during the day for a nap in the sun. Unfortunately they are trying to make the resort out to be a family version of Club Med, yelling abut activities starting and special going on. No chance to sleep.

The restaurants are so-so its basically one big restaurant with service to different areas. the breakfast buffet is fine but nothing spectacular. We ate in the main dining room for their Mexican night and the food was less than impressive. I do want ts stress that the staff has been nothing but gracious and helpful everywhere we go.

As we do have a kitchenette we thought we would eat in one night on the balcony. The only place on property that has take away food is the Mecadoito a small shop that has a very limited supply of items, almost nothing in the way of proteins and it is extremely expensive. the only alternative is to take a cab down to the local supermarket.

That brings up another point, this property is extremely isolated and very spread out meaning you're pretty much trapped there. This place doesn't have the amenities need for such an isolated resort.

All in all not a place I will come back to. nwo were off to the Hilton for the last 3 nights of our vacation

Room Tip: Make sure no one is next door

Overall we had a great stay at the hotel. I went with 3 friends and we spent a good deal of time enjoying the pool and beach (although the ocean isn’t swimmable). We also enjoyed the activities the fun team put on. Thanks Omar, Adrian, Fernando and Sergio for the water aerobics, beach volleyball and karaoke.

The service at the 2 poolside restaurants is very slow for my New York mentality. Be prepared to wait a while for everything. The servers are pleasant though.

Checkin was very nice. Our room wasn’t ready when we arrived so we went to grab lunch and it was ready right when we were finished eating. Beautiful views from the 9th floor.

Spending 6 days here as a family of 5. Kids are 8 - 16. There are some great regular activities they have planned for all ages, including a ceviche class, beach volleyball, bocce, Zumba, guacamole class, etc. There are tennis and basketball areas. The mini-golf is better suited for 5 and under crowd, this area might be better suited for something else, perhaps even another courtyard dining/beverage venue. Giant chess and fire pit are a nice touch. The property itself is gorgeous, with a beautiful courtyard by day and night. There is a mercadito (market) on property with a lot of selections including Starbucks, but it did not include the simple staples of salt & pepper. The kitchenettes are 2-burner and microwave only, with a fairly small dishwasher. Washer & dryer are adequate. Every villa has a view of the ocean, but the 2nd bedroom does not have a window for any natural light, as it is located on the balcony hallway that faces the internal area of the property. The Westin Workout and spa are top-notch.

The pool is very lengthy, and in turn narrow. There is a lot beach, but the ocean does not seem to be usable, as it drops off quickly and the surf is rough in front of the property. With that said, if you like whale watching, watching pelicans dive for fish, or seeing hundreds of crabs perform their antics on the surf rocks and in the pools that form, then you will enjoy the beach just fine. You can walk about 1.25 miles south on the contiguous beach without encountering any technical terrain, and about 1/8 mile north. While there are not really pool amenities focused on the kids (slide, lazy river), our kids had no trouble having fun. This is definitely a couples or family resort - we did not have to deal with any spring break party revelers.

The restaurants on the property are quite good, with a lot of choices.

To go to San Lucas or San Jose, you will need taxi or a car. The highway is very negotiable. You really can’t walk anywhere. The bell captains can get you a taxi, and the drivers will negotiate. We found the on-property shuttles to be more expensive, in some cases significantly. San Lucas is stuck with the 80’s problem of thinking blasting party music and blowing whistles to down tequila shots is still in fashion. San Jose is different. Both have tons of great restaurants and there is plenty to see. And there is so much great golf within 15 minutes of the resort that you could easily play 9 courses without having to travel any more time than that.

If you really want to try some great tequilas - not the kind you shoot with salt and lime, get out and do so. It has come a long way, and some of the sipping tequilas are as good as fine brandies or scotch. The Westin’s bars don’t have a great selection, but plenty of places nearby have some super variety. In fact, shame on me for ordering a martini at the Westin (I just wanted a change from the margs and tequila cocktails for one night) - I knew I was in trouble when I had to advise the bartender how to make it.

Overall, we liked the feel of this property even better than Cancun’s Westin Lagunamar when it came to a local feel when staying on property. The rooms are not as big, especially the kitchens; and you can’t walk to as many places like you can in Cancun. But for food and flavor of Mexico - despite knowing there are so many American residents in the Cabo area, the property just gave us a better local feeling. We will definitely come back.
