This is what makes a review to go from 4 stars to 1 star, just one person. My entry card stop working, and I go to reception to solve my problem. On my way I ask somebody from staff team how should I proceed. He suggest me to go to the reception and skip the line, I do that and the guy in charge there show me the line and told me to wait, meantime my wife and three kids where waiting to get access to our paid room. I ask for an supervisor but nothing changed. Sitting there an young lady speaking spanish was skipping the line for some reason and her request was answer and solved. The guy at the reception was very rude and very ignorant. Conclusion: if you are not local or speaking spanish your treatment will be a second class one

We just returned home from a week long trip to Los Cabos - it was our first time visiting this part of Mexico. There were four travelers in our family - two adults and two teenage boys. We had read numerous reviews about Royal Solaris and weren't sure what to expect. The stay surpassed our expectations! It is an excellent property -- some strengths include cleanliness, friendliness, prompt service, and an ideal location.
A few staff shout-outs, first Guillermo...we chose to spend every day on the beach and got to know this amazing man! He brought drinks and got to know our family. Lucy and Carmen made us omelets every morning! And Kristel left our room spotless everyday - working around our schedule in the room.
Contrary to other reviews, we were able to make reservations every night for one of the two restaurants (we called at 9am and were never on hold for more than 1-2 minutes). And the check-in process was quick and easy -- we said we weren't interested in the "club" talk and were done in 10-15 minutes.
We would recommend walking into town for the Thursday night Art Show. Great way to get to know San Jose. We even bought a print at one of the studios.
Royal Solaris is 15-20 minutes from the airport. It is located in San Jose - away from the tourist chaos of San Lucas. We did a one-day excursion to San Lucas using the hotel shuttle - a great option. At the marina, we went on a "glass bottom boat" tour -- and were dropped at Lover's Beach for a few hours of snorkeling ($15/person for boat, $10/person for snorkel equipment - you can share it).
We just had a great time -- and highly recommend this property.

Ok to people who are hating on this place... your just too snooty. If your expecting a 5 star resort its not... go to a 5 star resort. This place is a 3.5-4 star but it is definitely a place worth coming too with tremendous value for your dollar. My opinion you absolutely get what you pay for and more here. Or at least we have always gotten good deals coming here. I wish we had hotels this inexpensive and inclusive at home in Vancouver.

My wife and I’ve been here 3 times over the last 8 years and it keeps getting better. We brought the kids this time and they loved the kids club. Its hard to pull our daughter away but our son was only 3.5 and so they wont take him unless its movie time. But that one hour is perfect and needed for adults only time . Its an amazing service and staff are great with the kids. Legends all of them.

The food quality is not fine dinning but it is fresh tasty and plentiful. If you want something just ask they do try hard to accommodate although language can be a barrier. If you get tired of the food here they have plenty of restaurants within walking distance. FYI. The food quality was the best this trip by far. If you want steak you gotta be vigilant and make reservations exactly at 9:00am to get into the À la cart restaurants. Fyi again do not go to either of these restaurants if your in a rush. The food here is really good and even the buffet is delicious and changes what it serves nightly

The staff are helpful and do their best. It seems sometimes they are a little slow but when you watch them they work incredibly hard so relax and be patient. Its a big place to constantly be walking around.

We had Ramon serve us drinks at the pool and my omelette lady Lucy is always happy and singing. Manual at breakfast restaurant is extremely awesome.

Our room is large and always kept very clean by Araceii. Beds and sheets are just fine and ac works great.

Honestly I have been to dozens of these resorts in my life. Some much nicer but $$$$$.
This place is the best overall value for our family and we will absolutely not hesitate to come back.

We stayed at the Royal Solaris Los Cabos for 7 days from March 15th 2018 to March 22nd 2018. We were a group of 10 with children age 6, 3 and 2. Prior to booking and while we waited for our trip we constantly checked the reviews and had some concern over the negative comments but upon paying attention to them it seems to be individuals that didn't realize this is truly a family (with young kids) destination and a lot is catered to them although we found even the grandparents and parents had plenty to do and loads of fun.

PROS

1. Young kids 4 to 12? Don't hesitate to get them into the kids club. They will love you for it. We had to bargain with our 6 year old to get her to leave at times. Dora, Diego and the staff there are amazing and your kids are in good hands and meeting new friends. They have a fantastic shallow pool they play at, loads of crafts, fun lunches with their new buddies every day and you can sit and watch them play there or leave them with the team feeling fine. We always wanted our kids with us until we spent some time watching them run around, do crafts and play with other kids and then we were sold on the kids club. Check it out! Only rule is tell the staff where you will be and you can't leave the resort.

2. Get out of the resort. Don't get suckered into a taxi just walk right out front and get on the city bus numbered 1 to 4. In 10 minutes your in the little city walking around the tourist shops. There are great beaches you can swim at. Pack a lunch, bring some water (or wobbly pops) and head to Chileno beach. Ask at the front desk to borrow some beach umbrellas. Almost everyone on the resort and in town that we ran across spoke English or enough English to understand. Be courteous and work on your Spanish but be a little fearless and get out. It costs about $.80 cents US to 1.00 US/ per person to get on the bus right in front and they will know when to drop you off.

3. Tip. Just bring $1.00 American bills and tip. Leave a tip for the maid. Tip the bartender every few drinks. Leave a tip on the table when your done your meal. Doesn't have to be crazy but $1, $2, or $3 is appreciated. We left $3-$5 daily for the maid and over 7 days tipped about $100 to $120. We also left a stroller for an expecting staff member that was well received.

4. Go to all the shows you can. They are fun and the kids will love them. They start at 8:30pm and the entertainment staff, the same folks by the pool and doing activities during the day, really do a great job. The Michael Jackson show was a highlight although we enjoyed them all.

CONS

1. Outside of the Mexican restaurant on the resort sit two wooden horse statues. My 6 year old climbed up on one (don't ask why) and it came crashing down. She was very lucky it didn't fall on her. They took them away for a few hours but we saw them back in front of the restaurant again. They are a hazard around kids.

2. Nothing else to complain about. It was great. You can't swim at the beach unless your a good/great swimmer and understand how to deal with the crashing waves and undertow but a few of us waded in and played in the waves suffering only a few beatings trying to learn to body surf. I would keep any kids out and wouldn't let the teenagers make this there first wave experience. The pools are great so go there. The beach is beautiful to sit at with the crashing waves in the background just be careful about going in the water.

We will be going back next year. I hope Dora and her gang are there. Ryleigh and Ainsley can't wait to get back to kids club.

Went to this all-inclusive resort in San Jose del Cabo (about 30 min from Cabo San Lucas, the "main" Cabo) for the kids Spring break... weather was great, but ocean water was surprisingly cold and so we didn't schedule any snorkeling despite bringing our gear.

Read lots of reviews prior to booking here, and in general, there weren't really any major suprises. This is not a Fairmont, Grand Hyatt, or similar level resort, so at best I'd have rated this a "4"-star property, except for 2 issues: (1) if your wristband falls off when you're in the pool or on the beach and you don't realize/find it, they'll charge you $70 to replace it; (2) they claim that reserving pool/beach chairs is not allowed, but they don't enforce it at all, so if you don't put stuff on them by 7:30-7:45am, you likely won't get one (and definitely not 2-4 together)... this is ridiculous... if you have the policy, enforce it; and (3) to get pool towels, you need to hand in a towel card you get at check-in, and if one of your towels goes missing, you get charged $30 (for an old towel you wouldn't pay $4 for)... someone took one of our towels off our chair one day and so I had to go explain it, but I don't like having to worry about that kind of thing while on vacation.

The wristband thing is a crazy way to piss off someone paying a couple thousand dollars... how's it going to benefit someone there when the whole place is already all-inclusive?!?! I was able to negotiate this "fee" down to $35 (50%) with the manager, but the experience and 20-minute discussion soured my day and with many other options, would make me look elsewhere for my next visit there.

But overall, we really enjoyed our stay! The staff there in general are AMAZING, super friendly and accommodating. We played a lot of pool and beach volleyball, and Ivan and Charlie and JJ were fantastic at getting people playing and making it fun for all. Alejandro made great Bahama Mamas at the poolside bar. Lucy made amazing omelletes every morning and served with a smile. Our room attendant Paula kept our room spotless and made towel animals for us.

Food was very good at times, average others (but I expected this)... the breakfast buffet was great... we all looked forward to it. We ate at Panchos (the Mexican style restaurant you need reservations for) twice, and found it to be clearly the best for dinner (just don't forget to call at 9am every day to make your reservation). Ate at Marco Polo once and none of us were very impressed. Worst food was the poolside snack bar... both my kids tried a burger and hot dog, and said they were TERRIBLE... both said they tasted "funny" and the hamburger broke in half (never seen that happen before, LOL).

There were free shows every night, and we saw 3 of them and they were fun and enjoyable. There were 2 shows you could pay extra to see, but as one was in plain view we watched from our balcony after dinner and saved $45 per person! Heard the Michael Jackson show was really good, but we missed that one for a sailboat cruise.

Here's the deal on the beach/ocean... there were red flags every day, so there is security there that will tell you to get out of the water if you go in. We live in Southern California and have the same waves and occasional rip tides all the time, so no big deal for us, but I can definitely see issues for people who are not used to it. So with no storms in the area and beautiful weather, red flags every day... guessing its like that almost every single day, SO, basically you can't go in the ocean there.

Property has a very nice location near the end of the hotel zone... there are other shops and restaurants right across the street you can go to, and the old town of San Jose del Cabo is a 20-min walk... some of the other resorts we drove by were isolated and just had desert across from them (nothing to walk to). The resort was very clean, pool was nice and kid-friendly, and the gym was well equipped and clean... there's a very nice basketball court and tennis court that were mostly unused while we were there. Again, best part was the super friendly staff in the restaurants, pool area, shows, and room attendants... they were great and kept you happy overall.

Finally, re the timeshare ("membership") sell... our "concierge", Lionel, was nice and while he did spend a few minutes telling us about it (less than 5 total), he did not pester us when we told him we'd think about it and get back with him. No real high-pressure that we experienced (despite having read about this in other reviews)... maybe we were lucky???

Overall, we really liked this place, but we'd try another resort next time in the Cabo area.

Room Tip: Ask for upgraded room higher up away from pool music... they have murphy beds too!
