Loved Villa Santa Barbara and the area. Perfect suite for a single person or couple. Equipped with everything you need for cooking. Outdoor kitchen available just outside the suite. Lovely view of the pool and canal. Watch for the French Baker who stops at your dock every morning around 8 am. An easy walk (10 minutes) or water taxi ride to the town centre. Pool is on the smaller side but deep, good for a refreshing dip or just floating around. April is the end of the tourist season so not all Restaurants were open, but still a very good selection and very reasonably priced. Excellent places to watch the sunset. Check out the Barrio where the locals buy their groceries. I didn't have any trouble traveling /walking around Barra De Navidad or nearby towns & beaches on my own. I was stung by a sting ray on one of my adventures and the locals knew exactly what to do to help (soak stung area in very hot water for 1 hour, add "planta de la raya" if available) Owners Barb and Barry are excellent Canadian hosts and willing to help you with all your needs. i.e. taxi (water & land) contacts, shopping locations & dining suggestions, doctor visits. Barb even arranged for poolside pedicures & massages. She welcomes you by supplying a lovely meal that you can warm up on your 1st night along with your favorite drinks. The hosts are respected within the community which says a lot. The only downside for me in Barra De Navidad was the beaches. The waves tend to be large and crash right up on shore, hard to get into the water. My taxi driver Raul and I became good friends as I had a standing apt to be picked up everyday at 10:00 am and taken to the beach of my choice, in Cuastecomte 15 min or La Manzanilla 30 min. for swimming & snorkeling.
Just returned from our stay at Villa Santa Barbara. We had a great time. We stayed in the junior suite which was well equipped. The location was perfect, only 10 minute walk to the beach. Barbara and Barry were just great and really helpful. Our flight got in late so Barbara left dinner for us in the fridge which we really appreciated.
Villa Santa Barbara is serene and close to everything. We would definitely go back there again.
We loved our stay at Villa Santa Barbara! The neighbourhood is quiet, safe and walking distance to all that Barra has to offer. Loved the views of the Grand Bay and having breakfast in the palapa by the pool. Hosts were very helpful and we will back!
The Junior Suite at Villa Santa Barbara offers a comfortable sleep, clean surroundings with a crystal clear pool right outside the door. With ensuite cooking facilities make your own meals or take advantage of the many great inexpensive restaurants a short walk or water taxi ride away. This Mexican treasure boasts all day sun, so revel in fantastic sunrises and sunsets. Worth special note are the hosts Barb and Barry...best hosts ever!
This place is delightful as are the hosts/owners Barb and Barry. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome. Barb and Barry are kind and thoughtful and made our stay absolutely wonderful. The kitchen in our place was stocked with the culinary tools one might need to make any meal, the rooms were very clean and homey and the grounds were very well kept. We used the bikes to bike around Barra a few times, enjoyed treats from The French Baker who stopped in every morning with yummy baked goods, cooled off in the pool daily, enjoyed watching the boats passing by in the canal, read and relaxed in the outdoor lounge chairs, watched the lovely sunsets, used the outdoor areas...kitchen, bar, palapa...and in general could not think of a better place we could have stayed. Barry and Barb know where to go for the things we needed, offered good advice on delicious restaurants, shops to visit, market day, local entertainment and on top of that, made us laugh. Overall, we highly recommend this place. It is close to town, tastefully decorated in warm colours and funky art pieces created by the owners and just a really neat place to call home while enjoying a stay in a quaint Mexican town .
We were greeted at the gate by our hosts, they made our Villa feel like home. Cold beer and wine and a homemade meal welcomed us to beautiful Mexico and the beginning of an outstanding vacation. The Mexican style studio suite was roomy with a kitchenette, and a large king size bed The plus was the additional outdoor kitchen area set with a bar, BBQ and large palapa for eating and socializing. The room view looked onto the pool deck with a background of palm trees lining the canal. Everything is just minutes away by walking or water taxi is available from the Villa dock for a quick picturesque trip. There is a large selection of places to eat, everything from savory vendor snacks, ocean side restaurants to fine dining all within a few blocks. The sunsets are spectacular!!! Happy Hour is a big part of the day; this is when the town comes alive with vendors, music, and the smell of the most wonderful food cooking in the streets. This place is truly the gem of Mexico! We have already booked for next year’s vacation!
