Excellent location to relax, explore the National Park and charge your batteries while discovering this wonderful area.
I went with my 7 yr old for 2 nights and we explored the peninsula’s top ten list of activities and horse back riding on the beach ( her favorite moment of the trip). Furthermore, the hotel offers a couple of charming lounge areas that offer you time to digest what you have experienced. We spent time bird watching and also often saw seals swimming in the bay from our hotel window.
We felt very welcome, the staff were attentive and helpful.

Advice: 1 night is not enough, as Snæfellsnes has many so many interesting sites to discover.

Food 9/10

When the sun shines, the location is wonderful. Perhaps it would be seen as bleak on a dark, overcast day. This is a great base for exploring the Snaefellsness peninsula. We stayed for three nights and that gave us plenty of time for walking and sightseeing, both around the hotel and around the peninsula. The location is clearly the strength of this hotel and inside it was ok. We had a deluxe room (room 1) which (presumably) has a bit more space although it is on the ground floor at the front of the property and is easily overlooked by other guests outside (including in the bathroom, which oddly does not have obscured windows). The good was good, with character and enough space. The restaurant was good, although we found the menu choices rather limited. I would say it is good quality dining, but not quite fine dining in the way I would define it. The breakfast buffet was good. On one of the three nights we stayed there was a music concert. These are clearly regular events that the hotel organises and they seem to attract an Icelandic audience of regulars who come for the music and party atmosphere. Although we enjoyed the musicians, the general raucous of the evening was not to our liking and we were kept awake until 1pm by loud noises and alcohol-fuelled partying. If the hotel is going to organise these events, it should consider whether they are compatible with ordinary guests. Overall, this hotel is very good. The location is the overriding plus and everything else is good enough.

Spent two very comfortable nights here. Small improvements which could be made include provision of tea/coffee stations in room, and we would have preferred a separate shower to one over a bath. Daily rate should include breakfast but at least the spread was worth the cost.

The Budir offers stunning beach and mountain views. We could just sit all day at the English club style bar and enjoy the stunning views. Our corner room was very spacious, stylish and cosy. The bed mattresses were super thick and comfortable. Wifi worked excellently everywhere. The breakfast buffet was one of the best we had in Iceland, offering a good variety of items including fruit and smoked salmon. All staff have been very friendly and helpful with a smile. It‘s a great place to stay and very recommendable.

Located by the black church of Búðir, the hotel is the most charming place to stay in Iceland. It has a bar with stunning views (and great cocktails, amazing choice), the restaurant is cozy, has another amazing view on the glacier and excellent food. The hotel is well appointed, excellent beds and convenient bathrooms. You need to spend time at Búðir, relax ... And come back
