Check in was quick and efficient and the staff offered lots of help and advice. Our family room was modern clean and spacious with a view of the pond and fields. We had afternoon tea on arrival which comprised of Tea/Coffee and a tasty scone with jam and cream. The evening meal was included in our a dear and all three courses were really tasty and well prepared - a tasty piece of beef on a bed of mash with veg for the adults and soup and pasta for the kids - creme brulee and sticky toffee puddings we're chosen for desert - the meal alone was worth visiting the Damson Dene for. We made good use of the pool/spa area which is small but well appointed and clean. A Gym area overlooking the garden was well equipped but not part of our plan on day 2 instead...a 10 minute ride in a six seater taxi, arranged by reception, cost us £17 each way and we enjoyed a day out in Bowness and Ambleside before returning eating out and returning to hotel to sit in front of the open fire in the lounge for an hour or so before forming up a team to take part in the really entertaining multiple-choice pub quiz - the bar is well stocked and service is great thanks to Vladimir - oh I almost forgot breakfast was a very tasty self service full english with everything you would expect in support.
Overall a great visit and we'll definitely be heading back soon.

Stayed at the Damson quite a few times over the years and the staff have been consistently welcoming and friendly, as was the food.
I'm not quite sure what a 3 star hotel should feel and look like but a few little tweaks here and there could make a big difference.
Four poster beds have been commented on, a number of times in the reviews here and I can only echo them, lots of squeaks that I think could easily be sorted.
The cigarette stumps thrown on the floors around the entrances give a poor impression and its not only the guests who are responsible. It wouldn't take much to sort that problem out.

The food on this occasion was not as good as it normally is but staff dealt with our dissatisfaction in a professional manner. Thank you.

All in all, the Damson is a nice warm and friendly place to stay but we have decided to move on and find another warm and friendly hotel in a better location.

Good luck to Wayne and the staff team, keep up the good work with a bit more attention to detail, this could be a really great hotel.

Many thanks for your review and many visits over the years. You've given us some great actionable feedback too which is always appreciated. We apologise that the food wasn't up the standards we have set for ourselves over the years. We take great pride in our food, as you of course know, and we are pleased we could help try and make things right there and then. We do hope you'll reconsider your future visits, but thank you for the review, past visits and helpful comments. Thank you.

Good hotel although dated, there was no shower in the bathroom, just a bath with a hand shower. I know they have had a new wing built, i'm sure that these are more modern and have a shower talking to other customers. The food was excellent as well as the range of drinks they had to offer, but could do with some more cocktails on the menu. The staff where excellent, polite and courteous throughout our stay and couldn't do enough for us. Highly recommend but would ask for the new wing.

Thanks for visiting! We love your comments about our food too! We used to have a range of cocktails available on our menu but sadly no one ordered any! Perhaps it's time to bring a few back, although our bar staff are happy to make whatever you want if you ask! All of our staff really appreciate your kind comments about their hard work and eagerness to please! If you do stay again, do ring up and we will give you a great deal on one of our new rooms! Thank you.

Just stayed here again after a long awaited return nothing much changed we still loved it!! We stayed upstairs not sure if thats the new part? I didn’t really sleep much a) not been well b) neighbours 1am return to watch tv for an hour thin walls made me feel i was sat in room with them (THIS IS NOT THE HOTELS FAULT THOUGH ) staff friendly helpful food evening meal was spot on loved it breakfast was great too just could have been warmer but buffet style ya find things can go cold!! The sausages omg i loved them!! Loved the ducks joining us every morning i think the chubby guy waiting on us should wash his hands after sneezing and blowing his nose as he went on to replacing clean cups etc from a table that had just left and my only gripe i have would be bar seating area cushions need to be cleaned it lets the place down which is a shame as this is lovely hotel facilities were great and i will hope to return at easter with my kids well done everyone at damsen dene

Thanks so much for visiting again and posting your nice review. We appreciate the feedback on areas where we can improve too; easily done in this case with a few words to the staff about the issues you've mentioned. Thanks for mentioning the delicious food and friendly staff! Until next time, take care!

Had a lovley couple of relaxing days stay at the Damson Dene, staff were attentive and happy to help, doggy friendly which was a bonus for us, food was lovely and the spa and leisure facilities were great.. only one negative, please please either get some wd40 on your lovley four poster beds or tighten the brackets as I'm sure our hotel neighbour's won't be leaving such a positive review
