We stayed at the Mayan Palace in March 2016 ( a benefit thru my work at RCI) This property is beautiful- meticulously cleaned and landscaped.. very well taken care of!!
We had an oversized "hotel" room with small fridge, microwave, and sink.. which was a bonus as I thought we were not going to have those things. It slept 4 people with couches, table, 2 balconies, king size bed and a big bathroom. It was cleaned twice a day and nice turn down service w/chocolates...
Pool and beach area were superb!! you could walk for miles on the beach if u wanted- very hard packed sand for those who like to run. No slope at all and you could walk out forever when the tide was out. Lots of shells! Water was clear and soft sandy bottom. Pool was very nice- no one was in it as water was too cool- but felt good for dipping! Another feature was an indoor pool which you dont find alot.. and good for families whose kids wanted to get in and play. The bali beds at the outdoor pool are extremely nice- my husb fav!!! They have activities around the pool even some food classes...
Food was very tasty- we got a tip from a fellow TA reviewer to get the food coupons at the restaurant- they were awesome!! 3 breakfasts and 3 lunches or dinners for the 2 of us were about $160 and I believe the breakfast buffet alone was $25. For the lunches/dinners u got an appetizer, entree, and a dessert- plenty of food- and it all was delicious! And yes they have shrimp on the menu- and their shrimp down there are HUGE! Our pool waiter Arturo was awesome- He knew what we wanted and was very attentive to our needs. Another plus was Happy Hour- seemed to go on forever!! Drink specials all day long! We spent most of the time relaxing by the pool- with the HUGE waterfall in the background it was extremely peaceful!!
The Grand Mayan was next door, not finished yet, and you cant use any of the facilities over there- except snack bar.. We were actually in one of their buildings.. you have bracelets on and they have different colors. They have a huge lazy river and pool over there and nobody was in them- would have been nice to use the lazy river , but I understand it is a privelege for the Grand Mayan owners. Also their kids club facilities were massive!
If you are looking for a relaxing vacation- this is your place! We would def go back- The only draw back is the resort is about 30 min from town and not close to anything at all-
So if you are looking for peace and tranquility in a lovely setting- this is your place!!!
Mayan Palace Puerto Penasco Mexico, is a hidden gem only four hours from Phoenix and Tucson Arizona. This is the place to go if you want to get away and forget the stress of the world. The beaches, golfing, tours, hotel staff, food, and rooms makes it easy to just enjoy and relax.
We loved our stay so much, we decided to invest in the Mayan Properties, so we can return as much as possible. Our new favorite place.
Lastly we decided to tour the property and facilities with Danny Schwartz (Mayan Rep) he was amazing and very easy to talk to, answered all our questions, and now a friend to look for on our return.
