We had a great vacation at Dreams Villamagna. We were there 2 weeks with an ocean view room.
Rooms: Nice room - very large, modern, L-shaped couch, nice balcony with jacuzzi tub. Could use some more drawers or shelves, but a very nice room overall.
Restaurants: Food was quite good. The sushi bar on the roof is a nice touch, great spot to watch the sunset. Italian restaurant - Portofino was our favorite with an extensive menu. We went 4 times and it was delicious each time. Other restaurants are also good, could maybe add some items to the menu. The buffet was ordinary and didn't have a lot of choice but it was fine for breakfast. Room service breakfast was very nice- great to eat on the balcony. Oceana was nice for lunch. Would be nice to have something beach side for lunch.
The restaurant staff are really amazing - so friendly and helpful. The aswer to all our questions was "todo es possible" (everything is possible!). They always accomodated our special requests to modify or add to a meal. They work very hard and are friendly and effecient. They really make it a pleasure. This is true of the beach waiters as well - the service on the beach is amazing! They are there whenever you need them and always back in a flash with your drink fresh and cold!
Entertainment/Animation - we don't really attend or participate in much on these types of vacation but always take note. If this is important to you, I wouldn't recommend you go to this hotel. The team is not very present, not much going on.
Beach - a great beach for walking!! Not a ton of palapas on the beach but we were always able to get one and there seems to be a lot of turnover during the day so they become available. As mentioned the beach service is excellent - drinks are in large nice glasses and not tiny plastic ones. Blended drinks are made one at a time so always great! Beautiful sunsets on the ocean. We saw lots of sand dollars, tons of pellicans, many other birds, some star fish, and even a pod of dolphins of swimming by!
Pool - we spend most of our time at the beach, but the pool is beautiful at this hotel. Runs the whole lenght of the property - ending in an infinity pool. Very nice. We did miss the mattresses provided at other Dreams/Secrets resorts.
Couple of things that could be improved...Sales people in the lobby - there are lots of them selling something like time share (it's not actually time share). We were asked many times to "get our coupons" Once would be enough. While overall the hotel is great - they are lacking some attention to detail - an example: several times the towels in our room were not replaced so we had to call to get some. Other similar types of things, not big deals but so easy to fix so why not fix them! Anytime we did ask for something - it was always handled very quickly.
Overall - we would recommend Dreams Villamagna for a relaxing vacation. We'd like to highlight a couple of the staff who were really great: Luciano (World Cafe), Julio (Beach and pool) and Juan Carlos (Oceana).
