We were here for one week for my son's karate tournament that we held at this hotel resort. This resort is pretty isolated so if you want to venture out, you would need to take a taxi.
ACCOMMODATIONS: We stayed in a 2BR standard suite. It was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped with a stove, microwave and dishwasher. Dining area was adequate. They only supplied a sponge, so you will need to bring/buy your own dish washing soap and paper towels. The wifi in our room only worked for a couple of days before it broke down. I thought it was just slow and should have called in the problem sooner, but it didn't matter because they couldn't fix it anyway. We had to go to the lobby or shopping center to use the wifi.
GENERAL GROUNDS: This is a pretty large resort with beautiful large pools. My kids liked the alligator water slides and under water tunnels. I would have liked more shade areas. The beach is just beyond the pools. Lots of lounge chairs with umbrella shading.
SERVICE: Everyone was very nice and accommodating.
FOOD: We did not go for the all-inclusive deal and we were glad we did not. The restaurant food was not too special EXCEPT for Il Pescatore, the Italian restaurant just at the entrance. It was so good the first night that we went back the 2nd night (for our anniversary). The waiters overheard us talking with another couple that we were both celebrating our anniversaries. We were then pleasantly surprised with a special anniversary dessert from the chef. Nice touch.
SHOPPING: There's a small shopping center with a small super market just outside the hotel entrance. The mall had great air conditioning, free wifi, a few good restaurants, some fast foods and a HUGE play structure for the kids. It's a nice mall to hang out at but not too many retail tenants. The super market was great for getting our provisions. Prices were good.
ZOO: Yes, they have a small zoo in the middle of the resort. There are 2 bengal tigers and about a dozen parrots (who perform in a free show). I felt bad for the tigers as they did not have shade (except for a small board thrown on top of their small cage) and no exercise. For this reason alone, I will not come back to this hotel.

I went with a group of friends for a week August 2014 and stayed here. We stayed there thru the Interval exchange and initially were set up in a marina facing room. We paid a little extra and upgraded to ocean front two days later. We stayed in the penthouse and it was very spacious. The rooms were clean and maid service was offered daily. The resort itself is pretty big, however, we went in the slow (rainy) season, so it wasn't very crowded. There were plenty of on-site activities, three pools (try the water slides. we enjoyed these even though we are all adults!), and of course the beautiful ocean. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the resort was well maintained. The only "complaint" I have is that the beach vendors (not affiliated with the resort) barter their goods all day and they approach frequently. Most will move along after a polite "no gracias", however some could be more insistent. None were rude though. There are plenty of excursions you can book right through the concierge at the hotel. This was our first time to Nuevo Vallarta. Although I like to visit different places every year, I would most definitely consider coming back and staying here. Also, there is a mall within walking distance, but if you plan on doing some real grocery shopping for the week, head to Walmart. The grocery store near the resort was a little pricey and its offering were limited.

Room tip: Definitely get a beach front room. The sunsets are spectacular. The penthouse was worth the money for a group of friends.

We have been here for one month and had a great time. Leaving Saturday back to Las Vegas. Paradise is our favorite place. Yes, it is in need of upgrade but they keep the place clean and maintained. All the new places are not well maintained and see signs of neglects. I still prefer Paradise any time any day.

Room tip: The higher the better the view is.

Nice overall experience, the rooms need a little updating. New flat screen televisions were in the room we stayed in but with limited channels and were missing HD content. Service was good and employees were overall helpful. Location was spectacular and romantic.

Room tip: beach front is a must for the romantic getaway. hearing the surf at night and the mornings made for ultra romantic experience.

Very nice resort. Beware if you are considering purchasing a vacation package with them. We bought and then they didn't honor their end of the agreement when it came to the trade-in of another property. They are blaming us for the mistake and now we are out a lot of money! Buy somewhere else! Very disappointed :(
