“Excellent Service, beautiful resort/scenery and amazing food”
Reviewed 31 March 2011

A group of 13 of us travelled in mid March to this resort. Upon arrival and to the day we left, it was a great stay. No one had any complaints. There is service on the beach and pool side, which we loved! It included food and drinks. This service is included with the all inclusive.
The rooms are nice and spacious. Very clean and well maintained. We always had hot water and never an issue with cleanliness or anything else. There are no balconies, but that was fine - once you opened the sliding doors, it felt like you did have a balcony. The beds are firm, but not hard. We all slept well. We all had a variety of towel made animals made for us! The housekeepers are great. If you want water, leave a note that says "agua por favor" and a large bottle will be left for you. Otherwise, you can get big or small bottles from any of the servers.
The beverages are amazing. They serve corona, corona light, pacifico (our fave) and others all in cans, not draft, unless you want draft. There is a large variety of liquor as well. Wine is Carlo Rossi (okay). You don't need a travel cup, the cups are huge or you can drink out of the can. A travel cup will keep it cool longer, but we ended up not really using ours that much.
The meals: breakfast is buffet. There is plenty to choose from - omelettes, poached eggs, fried eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, etc. There is plenty of variety and the cooks are great at making what you want. Lunch is served by menu regardless of where you want to eat. If you go into the restaurant, they have an amazing menu. If you go to the snack bar, there is a great menu there too. The choices are so great. The burgers are great, the quesadilla's, calamari, pizza, etc. This same menu is there for you on the beach or the pool side. You have to have the salsa and guacomoli...SO GOOD! Dinner is buffet and they they change it up each night to a different theme. Each night was great. You can also get room service for a relatively good price ($4 each time you use it - this is a service fee, anything you order is not charged). You will have to sign, which kind sucked, as you have to wait for the bill, but they were quick. You are not charged for any of this.
Entertainment - there really wasnt much at night. As the resort is small, there werent many people out at night. The piano bar (Blue Bar) was quiet. There was a karaoke night that was fun. That would be the only downfall.
Venture off the resort. Use the free trolly to see Nuevo Vallarta, but I encourage you to visit the town of Bucerias. They have a great market (much cheaper - easy to barter), there are great restaurants (Miguel Angels is the best) and great little bars. Walk around, it is a safe and friendly town. This is our fifth trip there and we have always loved it there the most. Puerto Vallarta is great too...just very busy. You can take busses to either place or a taxi.
There is cute place called Eddies around the corner from the resort. When you leave the resort, go left, turn left at the corner and follow this road for a couple of minutes and its on your right hand side. They have wifi for free. Eddie is a nice older gentleman. They have entertainment every night from 7 to 10.
We did a day trip that included snorkelling, whale watching and then time on a white sandy beach. It was $40 an adult, $15 a child. It was crappy snorkelling, but the day was good. The beach is not free - so bring money. It says the food is included, which it is, but nothing else and if you want a seat on the beach, you will need to buy drinks from a vendor. We did see a mama and baby whale which was great and lucky considering they are nearing the end of the season for them.
When booking a tour/trip...do not go through the resort. That is a rip off as its the exact same trips as they offer on the beach or outside the resort. We recommend that you go with the people on the beach as that is their primary job. The people selling outside the resort are looking for people to do a timeshare meeting as thier primary meeting.
The people are very friendly, so don't be intimidated. Some are trying to sell stuff you don't want, but that's okay, that's thier job. Don't be rude!
Overall, this resort is well worth it's money. Highly recommended. We would return in a heartbeat. You can't beat the service!

When we first booked our vacation to Mexico we were concerned about the safety because of everything you hear in the news. After spending a week in Nuevo Vallarta Ocean Breeze we found that this was not the case. We have been all over the Caribbean and Mexico and this destination ranks as one of the best. The staff was very courteous and always had a smile to offer. We highly recommend Ocean Breeze, the location is amazing, "Beautiful sunsets", the food was surprisingly good we want to thank the Edgar and Rodolfo for there great service, if there was one thing to improve on was to offer more nightly entertainment, they have a really nice piano bar which they can take advantage of. We also want to thank Sunquest especially Rosa, they always kept us informed with activities and made us feel at home. Hope to be back soon, T & M from Toronto

Excellent value for the money. Not overly full and meals (especially lunch menu) very good. One buffet for bfast and dinner was ok, good quality and the separate restaurant a short walk away was a nice mexican fare. Staff at hotel extremely attentive and run to serve. Watch out for the taxi price scams though, the posted rate at the lobby is definitely not what you should pay, walk around the corner to the taxi stand and there will be a dozen drivers waiting. eg hotel to Punta Mita (nice little flea market), lobby was 610 pesos however you see the drivers and it will be approx 200 to 250 pesos. same for the "water taxi" that is pushed on you to go to PV. 20 dollars US a head for a boat ride that drops you off on the beach in PV and then picks you up while you stand with many new friends selling you items. Ignore that stuff and take the bus ATM outside the hotel that takes you into PV (walmart) and then transfer to any bus downtown. total time 45 minutes and total cost perhaps $6. in PV you will see all busses that have Walmart on window, take anyone back to walmart and ATM bus back to hotel. that easy.
There was no time share push at the hotel just an aggravating gent at a booth near the bus stop. When you offer some personal dentistry to him because he's being such a mouthy nusance and makes comments to your daughters, he understands english very well to stop and not bother you again.

at the airport don't be fooled by the transport companies outside the baggage. these are NOT your reps and they try to fool you by stating your tour group name. Your transportation is past them outside. Go figure these nuts are allowed in the terminal and the vacation tours are allowed outside. the inside group are time share folks which will hijack your transportation needs and take you elsewhere.

The excursions are a big tourist trap and are made to vacuum cash from your pocket. the zip line jungle stuff is expensive and a long trip. however the dolphin park nearby (10 min walk) is well worth it.

Other than this little aggravation on the time share bozos, its a great place to stay!

Thought I would drop a line to let travellers know that for an all inclusine this hotel was excellent. Staff were very attentive to your needs. After a harrowing time at the Puerto Vallarta Airport with the time share wolves the staff were able to upgrade us to an ocean view room after we had missed our bus to the hotel. Rosa from sunquest tours got us the room after explaining our displeasure at missing the bus.

The food was excellent, the staff greating you every morning and evening at the door to the restaurant with a big smile. Omar and Angel the bar tenders for the swim-up and sports bar were friendly and entertaining as well. This hotel and staff were excellent.

The name of the resort is actually Sea Garden and you need to remember that if you are going on a day trip and ever want to get back there. They clearly added the name Ocean Breeze when this time share resort very recently decided to offer the all inclusive option and no one is really aware of it yet.
Most people who own a time share are lovely senior citizens therefore the average age during our stay was 70. While we were there the bar was empty by 10:00. There is not much entertainment, although the activity team does try its best to encourage people to participate to water aerobics, volley ball games, yoga and black jack tournaments daily.
This is a small resort. It is very clean and the decor is stylish and comfortable. Unfortunately the bed was the hardest bed I have ever slept on (we tried three different beds altogether as we were in a room with two double beds before being switched to a room with a king size bed) and we called the pillows “flap jacks”.
For unknown reasons they make you sign a bill every time you eat or drink something. That did not really bother us, although it did take a little bit of time for them to bring the “bill” at times. I thought it was really nice to have the waiters serve us directly at our lounge chairs by the pool. All in all the service was great. Everyone is friendly and kind. We never figured out if they expected us “all inclusive people” to tip them as they offered equally good service whether we tipped or not.
The food and drinks were very good. There is really only 1 restaurant plus the pool side snack bar. The dinner buffet was small but had quality options. Then there is also a place called Taco Break, just a short walk away that is all inclusive.
The beach is so-so. The water and the sand are brown (as it is everywhere on the pacific coast I believe) and the waves were enormous and not safe to swim in. However, it was whale season and we went on a tour for 30$ each during which we saw many mommy whales with their babies.
We took a water taxi to Puerto Vallarta after being told that it was cheaper and quicker than a regular taxi. It is a good idea in principle but we got SOAKED on the way back (I’m talking dripping wet, salt water in the eyes, any belongings that are not water proof wrecked). Puerto Vallarta is a cute little touristy town with a nice boardwalk. We went once and did not feel the need to go back.
To sum it up: we had a great relaxing week. I recommend this resort to anyone looking for a nice quiet time in the sun.

A small property, which i like, they only recently turned it into an all-inclusive. The evening dining room service was absolutely horrendous. The wait staff treated the all-inclusivers like garbage. In spite of the fact that Sunquest tells us that gratuities are included in our package, the staff at this resort always EXPECTED tips.

Out of our seven nights at this property, we had to call room cleaning service four times because they hadn't cleaned our rooms. Not a good percentage.

Bottled water was NOT included in our all-inclusive package. We have been on many all inclusives and never once was water not included. The hotel and Sunquest tell you NOT to drink the tap water yet water is NOT included in our package?! What gives??

There is no nightly entertainment in spite of what Sunquest's brochures say. The evenings could be quite long with nothing to do.

Front desk ok.

Beach beautiful.

Service horrendous.

We stayed at this resort during the Xmas week, and that place was still dead quiet even during their peak season! It's good in a way that kids can enjoy the pools almost all by themselves, and no line-up to get food!

The resort is very elegantly decorated and the property is very well kept, very clean and tidy. Lunch only serves snack type of food such as pizzas, burgers, some finger food. You can only eat a-la-carte between 3pm-6:30pm and after 9pm, the buffet takes over in between. Food is quite good, they do a theme meal every night, mexican, italian, asian, etc. another big plus for the food, they have room service!

Not surprisingly as others have pointed out, you do have to sign the bills after each meal, I guess the management wanted to assess the feasibility of their newly introduced all-inclusive concept. Be careful though when signing the bills as they mix up quite frequently, a few times I was given bills with food that we didn't order!

One thing this resort lacks big time is the program activities. There was not much entertainment during the day, only ping-pong, some in-pool exercise and Bingo, and none at night!

The beach is nice and is literally steps from the hotel rooms, but the waters were a bit rough. However, you can walk alongside the beach and you'll get to calmer and shallower part. It's got a nice view of the downtown Puerto Vallarta also from there!

We took the water taxi to go to Puerto Vallarta, big mistake. Cost $20 usd per adult and the ride took about 1 hr on a twin-motored boat! worst yet, upon arrival, we had to transfer to a smaller boat and wade through the shallow water to go ashore, and we had an infant with stroller! I'd rather spend $13 pesos and take the bus there!

Nuevo Vallarta isn't big, it's more like a tourist town, you can ride the free touri-bus that takes you around the town for sightseeing and it drops you at a shopping centre. But Puerto Vallarta is definitely worth visiting!

Overall, we had a very pleasant stay and I'd recommend this resort. For the price we paid at peak season, you can't go wrong with this place! If you like quiet and setback atmosphere, this is the place for you!
