A group of 13 of us travelled in mid March to this resort. Upon arrival and to the day we left, it was a great stay. No one had any complaints. There is service on the beach and pool side, which we loved! It included food and drinks. This service is included with the all inclusive.
The rooms are nice and spacious. Very clean and well maintained. We always had hot water and never an issue with cleanliness or anything else. There are no balconies, but that was fine - once you opened the sliding doors, it felt like you did have a balcony. The beds are firm, but not hard. We all slept well. We all had a variety of towel made animals made for us! The housekeepers are great. If you want water, leave a note that says "agua por favor" and a large bottle will be left for you. Otherwise, you can get big or small bottles from any of the servers.
The beverages are amazing. They serve corona, corona light, pacifico (our fave) and others all in cans, not draft, unless you want draft. There is a large variety of liquor as well. Wine is Carlo Rossi (okay). You don't need a travel cup, the cups are huge or you can drink out of the can. A travel cup will keep it cool longer, but we ended up not really using ours that much.
The meals: breakfast is buffet. There is plenty to choose from - omelettes, poached eggs, fried eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, etc. There is plenty of variety and the cooks are great at making what you want. Lunch is served by menu regardless of where you want to eat. If you go into the restaurant, they have an amazing menu. If you go to the snack bar, there is a great menu there too. The choices are so great. The burgers are great, the quesadilla's, calamari, pizza, etc. This same menu is there for you on the beach or the pool side. You have to have the salsa and guacomoli...SO GOOD! Dinner is buffet and they they change it up each night to a different theme. Each night was great. You can also get room service for a relatively good price ($4 each time you use it - this is a service fee, anything you order is not charged). You will have to sign, which kind sucked, as you have to wait for the bill, but they were quick. You are not charged for any of this.
Entertainment - there really wasnt much at night. As the resort is small, there werent many people out at night. The piano bar (Blue Bar) was quiet. There was a karaoke night that was fun. That would be the only downfall.
Venture off the resort. Use the free trolly to see Nuevo Vallarta, but I encourage you to visit the town of Bucerias. They have a great market (much cheaper - easy to barter), there are great restaurants (Miguel Angels is the best) and great little bars. Walk around, it is a safe and friendly town. This is our fifth trip there and we have always loved it there the most. Puerto Vallarta is great too...just very busy. You can take busses to either place or a taxi.
There is cute place called Eddies around the corner from the resort. When you leave the resort, go left, turn left at the corner and follow this road for a couple of minutes and its on your right hand side. They have wifi for free. Eddie is a nice older gentleman. They have entertainment every night from 7 to 10.
We did a day trip that included snorkelling, whale watching and then time on a white sandy beach. It was $40 an adult, $15 a child. It was crappy snorkelling, but the day was good. The beach is not free - so bring money. It says the food is included, which it is, but nothing else and if you want a seat on the beach, you will need to buy drinks from a vendor. We did see a mama and baby whale which was great and lucky considering they are nearing the end of the season for them.
When booking a tour/trip...do not go through the resort. That is a rip off as its the exact same trips as they offer on the beach or outside the resort. We recommend that you go with the people on the beach as that is their primary job. The people selling outside the resort are looking for people to do a timeshare meeting as thier primary meeting.
The people are very friendly, so don't be intimidated. Some are trying to sell stuff you don't want, but that's okay, that's thier job. Don't be rude!
Overall, this resort is well worth it's money. Highly recommended. We would return in a heartbeat. You can't beat the service!
