“A little bit overestimated place”
Review of Lung Cu Flag Tower

Lung Cu Flag Tower
Reviewed February 19, 2018

I would say the tower wasn't so interesting and views were definitely not one of the best in Ha Giang. But we've enjoyed the roads on motorbikes and views along them.
If you enjoy riding motorbike, just go there, it's worth one day trip. But do not expect too much.

Thank Filip V

Cool view of Ha Giang province. You can also spot China from the top of the flag pole tower. Would recommend not putting gravel in the hill to the top of Cung Lu flag pole (we slipped with our motorbike there).

Although I mention the tower has a nice view, the trip from Dong Van is long and difficult. The view is not unique in this area and the tower is not that special for tourists.

If you have enough time, it definitely is worth a visit. We were a bit in a rush.

Lũng Cú flag tower is part of the Hà Giang loop Đồng Văn, Yên Minh, Mèo Vac back to Hà Giang. It is a short ride off the main road through villages while you’re on this loop.

It’s highest point of altitude in Vietnam border of China. You will see 360 degrees view from this monument. There are over 250 steps from the ground.

There is a shop selling tourist items with toilet facilities. Make sure there is paper when using.

Me and wife rode from Dong Van town to Lung Cu flagpole.

Thought it was going to be a easy 2-3 hour ride but be warned ITS NOT!

There is plenty of roadworks and damaged roads along the way. Its at least 2.5 hours to get here. You need a bit of skill to ride the slippery gravel mountainside roads. Advised to use riding protection gear in case of fall.

Along the way, the views are fabulous!

Not many shop along the way to cater for western or modern travellers.

Admission fee for Flagpole is VND 25,000.

Honestly, after the rough ride here, and the impending ride back, my 52 year old legs cant climb the steps to the Flagpole so we passed the climb. So near yet so far......

According to Google maps, the Chinese border is 2-3Km away so you're not actually on the border but only close.
