We have just returned from spending the weekend at the Buffalo Mountain Lodge for a family wedding. What a terrific venue it was! The wedding was held on a field behind the Lodge, surrounded by majestic mountains and one couldn't have felt closer to heaven. Fortunately the weather cooperated for exactly the length of the ceremony. It couldn't have been more perfect!
The rooms vary at the hotel and although our cabin was clean and ordinary, others in the family had some more upscale rooms. The reception was held at the Wine Cellar on the premises. The dinner was absolutely fabulous. Congratulations to the staff for doing such a wonderful job. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and wouldn't hesitate to return there.

We travelled to Banff for a destination wedding and stayed at the Buffalo Mountain lodge. The rooms were comfortable and charming- complete with a working fire place which we took advantage of. Even in the summer, there's still a chill in the air. The staff was helpful in helping us get to the big tourist sites in Banff, and it was a very short drive into town. I would definitely stay there again if I was heading back to the rockies.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay at Buffalo Mountain Lodge. We are pleased you enjoyed your overnight accommodations and our location in proximity to the town. Because we are located on Tunnel Mountain, the lodge provides an escape from the bustling city of Banff with the convenience of being a walk away from all of the tourist attractions. We look forward to welcoming you back again in the future.

Our 6 night stay in mid September was wonderful. Hotel is very charming and peaceful. Located on a mountain away from busy downtown Banff - but just a short few minutes drive. The hotel is old but very well maintained. We had a regular room - which was a bit small, but we were ok with that as we spent most of our time out anyway. The room had wood fireplace and we used it every night! It was lovely. We had the special promo package that included breakfast - and it was great. Buffet breakfast everyday had a lot of variety and was a great way to start the day and get going - we didn't have to worry about where to go have breakfast.
The service is amazing. Fireplace screen broke off for us one day. The next day we come to the room and we have a new one - and we didn't even mention it because we forgot.
The bathroom is a bit outdated - although it looks like some renovations did take place. But shower head really needs to be replaced!
Overall, we were extremely happy. Would definitely recommend!

Just a few minutes from the town of Banff..
My husband & I stayed here for 6 days to celebrate our 50th Birthdays. We could ask for nothing more!... We upgraded to the "Premeir Rooms"----worth the extra money--beautiful, spacious bathrooms with heated floors. Loved the wood-burning fireplace. Get a second floor to enjoy the fabulous view from your balcony! All meals were excellent at the Sleeping Buffalo & at Cilantro. The staff goes above & beyond to satisy your every need. Can't wait to return!!

Room Tip: Second floor facing Tunnel Mountain Road overs great views. Stayed in Room 908.

We were upstairs toward the back of the property. There was only one room adjoining us so it was quiet even with weddings going on. The room was dark and did smell of smoke. We had a fire most nights and with the windows open, the smell went away. Bathroom was nice although the shower door was difficult to open. The cleaning of the room was not great. We found many grapes around the room from a previous guest. Would have been nice to have a refrig in the room.

We recently returned from our honeymoon to Banff. We stayed at the Buffalo Mountain Lodge for 6 nights and at the Fairmont Banff Springs for 3 nights. The Buffalo Mountain Lodge was by far our favorite out of the 2 hotels. The BML was rustic and romantic - perfect for honeymooners. We extremely enjoyed the fireplace that was cleaned out and stocked with fresh wood with every housekeeping, the large bathroom with shower and claw foot tub, and the porch with rustic patio furniture. We also saw deer from our bedroom window - it was the quintessential canadian rocky mountain setting. The main lodge also had the best bacon pizza - that will be missed!

There were only 2 things that we were disappointed with at the BML - the pillows were way too soft and the rooms and bathroom had very bad lighting. These are very minor complaints but we can't wait to come back to the BML for an anniversary trip (we'll just remember to bring our own pillows)

Buffalo Mountain Lodge is part of the Canadian Rocky Mountain Resorts' family of companies. Each room has been carefully decorated to reflect the mountain lifestyle in Banff-the accommodation is anything but 'cookie cutter.' The outdoor stainless steel hot tub is best enjoyed after an invigorating hike, bike or ski on one of the nearby trails-or perhaps to aid digestion after a sumptuous meal in the lodge's highly acclaimed restaurant, Sleeping Buffalo. ... more   less
