Hotel was clean and rooms are spacious. Location is very convenient to main part of Banff. Bus to ski areas stopped right in front of hotel. Breakfast in hotel was tasty with made to order omelets. Has 2 small indoor hot tubs but no pool.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The location is superb and the onsite parking very helpful. For those who don’t want to drive there is a roamer bus stop right outside the door as well as free buses to the big 3 ski hills during the season.
Our room seemed to have been recently renovated with all furniture and furnishings in excellent condition. A few small details seemed to have been badly designed or perhaps not changed during the renovation. For example, the light bulbs were not very bright (maybe low energy - big tick) and between them did not give enough light in the room at night. In particular the clothes hanging area was entirely shielded from any light. The bath tub was quite shallow (good for reducing water usage) but the height of the tap meant that quite a lot of water splashed on the floor. But don’t let me put you off staying here, the two hot tubs were different temperatures for different preferences. The free breakfast was high on carbs and low on vitamins but the omelette station was good. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Well located near downtown Banff, with all the amenities skiers favor. Bus stopped in front of Ptarmigan for each ski area. As part of a ski club, our rooms were less than travel agent/website indicated. (For group après ski, we needed to go outside the hotel). Some remodeling was underway, so anticipate next summer's visitors will have new amenities. Lake Louise & Sunshine skiing was cold, and not much new snow, but well groomed for cruisin' skiers! Ice carnival at the Chateau was remarkable: An eagle's head, and a tribal chief's head were at least 2 stories tall. On sculpture included 3 child-size skiers coming down a 'slope' of ice. On Lake Louise was an ice castle the size of a small home. In Banff the sculptures were made from truckloads of snow, brought in for the festival. A pleasant surprise for this long planned ski trip

We went to Banff to do a horse drawn sleigh ride - so stayed over and picked the Ptarmigan just because it is pretty much right downtown. Turned out to be a great choice - we checked in early - and room was already ready to go - very helpful and courteous check in process. Bonus - underground parking included! Room was immaculate - well laid out, tastefully decorated - right down to the bathroom being up to date and spotless. Very comfortable bed.
We were there on St. Patrick's day - so naturally wanted to go to an Irish Pub - turns out St. James gate is about a block away - another bonus.

We had the included breakfast the next morning - it was excellent (great omelet chef).
If I had to find any fault it would be that the doors must be paper thin, as when people went into their room across the hall form us it sounded like they were coming through our door.
All in all great stay - no such thing as cheap hotels in Banff - so for a couple of hundred $$ good value.

Room Tip: A room overlooking Banff Ave. would have a better view than those at the back.

All staff were attentive and friendly. Location was great, a few blocks to town, free shuttle to Lake Louise ski is literally at the front of the property. Acceptable free breakfast and coffee, as well as coffee in the room. Loved the canine assiatant manager at the front desk! Think it was like a ridgeback, he would stand at the counter and was paying attention like he was helping the employee with your check in! Free parking was great, ski lockers, big room, very fair pricing. They gave us a 10% off coupon for ski rentals down the street, which was a great place to get gear.

A few items to improve, no TV Channel guide, no do not disturb sign, they brought us one, shower soap empty, but all was handled immediately. The biggie for me is their “spa” needs to be blowed up, very old and grody, nasty tile/grout. The sauna felt like a chemical bath. With all the newer upgraded properties few blocks away, they should do this to keep up with the competition. For me it is a deciding factor when I am in the booking process.
