Since my last visit the resort has renovated the reception area and created a new restaurant on the main level. We did not use it, but it had reasonable prices and looked comfortable. Our ground floor unit was OK for our week stay, despite the tiny bedroom with less than a meter around the bed. The was a nice new TV and good cable service. The kitchen is poorly equiped, with minimal cheap pots and pans and utensiles. I do love the location, a mile out of the townsite, near Hwy 1. Very quiet.

I liked the fact that it is a few minutes out of downtown Banff as it is less busy and very quiet. I wouldn't recommend walking to town. The hotel does offer a free shuttle service. The property is old and it shows, which is a shame as it is truly a charming property. The rooms are a bit dark but clean and the beds are comfy. We had dinner at the restaurant which was reasonable and tasty with friendly service.

The staff in the resort were very helpful and welcoming and there was a courtesy shuttle to and from downtown Banff at various intervals during the day. When this wasn't around (or if you'd just missed it) a taxi into town wasn't particularly expensive. The location of the resort was very nice, with lots of lovely views.

The room itself was basic but was very clean and was comfortable enough. It's all just looking a little tired and in need of a facelift. The layout was also a bit odd - power sockets were tucked behind beds where they couldn't be reached easily and the alarm clock they provided (sitting on the bedside cabinet) wasn't plugged in - as there wasn't a power socket anywhere near it. Coffee making facilities were provided in room but to make tea involved running water through the coffee machine to heat it which always results in a slightly unpleasant coffee-flavoured tea.

We didn't eat an evening meal in the restaurant but the breakfasts were very nice and the waiting staff very attentive.

free wifi available - but was painfully slow.

Picked at last minute. Check in ok - took advantage of a small upgrade at check in and took 2607 - wolf suite I think. Recently renovated this was a great 2 storey 2 bedroom apartment. Full kitchen and dining area meant we could self cater. The world noisiest fridge was in the kitchen but luckily couldn't hear it upstairs! 2 bedrooms one with king bed and one with queen bed plus 2 bathrooms meant luxury for us! Beds very comfy and quiet location - you would have to drive into Banff - or a very long walk or short taxi. Ample parking - wish we had stayed for longer!

We stayed in the one bedroom condo and really liked it. It was comfortable, clean and very well situated from the highway and Banff. The rooms are a decent size and the bathroom is wonderful. The kitchen was surprisingly well stocked with all the gadgets you might need. They even had a cork screw and a cheese grater! We ate outside on the restaurant deck several nights and really enjoyed the food. We ate inside one night and the decor is not welcoming or appealing. I think that is the reason we were the only customers that night. We did not eat breakfast but the dinners were excellent!! I would have liked specials to add a little variety to the choices but you can't have everything. I did want to tell you to make sure you go into town to the welcome center get a map, then get your money exchanged for no fee at the currency exchange by showing them the map. While you are in their store be sure to buy something to say thank you for exchanging the money for free. The Rocky Mountain Resort will not exchange your money for you and you will end up paying way more for your meal if you are American. The food cost all over the area is Very high compared to the states. In the Jasper restaurants and at the Icefields Restaurant they had charts and would change money for you right there. Overall I would highly recommend the resort.

Room Tip: 1st floor: no stairs but hear peoples footfalls. It wasn't bad. The 2nd floor rooms must carry luggage upstairs.
