Probably the most beautiful place I have ever been in my entire life, even considering I have been in 50 countries. The view is breathtaking and the middle spring you still find some ice, what makes the view even more beautiful and different (of course in summer should be as beautiful as possible). Please don’t leave without stop for a hour there. If you are excited, try a picnic. They have tables there or you can try your car. All the pictures worth the visit.

Lake Minnewanka is a large glacial lake near town of Banff. We visited in April, and sections of it were thawed. We were very pleased about this, as we came to Banff expecting to see lots of blue-green lakes. It is a beautiful spot, popular for picnicking, mountain biking, hiking, canoeing, diving, and snowshoeing.

Thanks for stopping by Susie1028, glad you took the time to visit us at Lake Minnewanka.
The lake is very beautiful when it's melting in the spring.

We visited before the ice had completely come off the lake. There were few people around and no amenities that were open. What difference does this make? It is a good place to commune with nature. What more do you really need? I thought it was better the way we saw it.

Keeping in mind that we visited off season. The location was relative deserted, still, it does have interesting history behind it and there are food, parking and restrooms facilities within walking distance.

Hi AlwxF939, thanks for stopping by.

Hope you can come back in the summer season and perhaps rent a boat or go on a cruise and we can share more of that unique history the area has to offer.

All the best,
