Enjoyed the drive through beautiful landscapes with a dusting of fresh snow. The lake was not yet frozen, so its turquoise colour contrasted beautifully with the white snow.

A quiet paddle in early Oct was exactly what we found at Lake Minnewanka, AB. Kayaking in October was amazing with the beautiful fall colors and calm waters it made for a relaxing paddle along the shore line of Lake Minnewanka. You can bring your own boats, which we did or In the late spring, summer and early fall months you can rent canoes and kayaks. They also offer guided motor boat rides around the lake. This was a beautiful season and was an excellent way to enjoy a fall day in AB.

For many people, this is their favourite lake in Banff and if you take the Banff Gondola, you can see the vastness of Lake Minnewanka from up there. There were several people kayaking on the lake. There is plenty of parking but, it does get very busy at peak times.

Although so close to civilisation the feeling is that you are in the real wild country. An excellent boat trip to the middle of the Lake can be a spiritual experience.
