After obsessively researching places to stay in Banff for our first trip to the mountains, the pictures of Hidden Ridge Resort kept me coming back over and over again. This place looked magical. Could it possibly be this beautiful there? Yes, folks it is THAT beautiful. We had a wonderful stay at this resort and couldn't ask for anything better. We were kindly upgraded to a 3 bedroom loft close to the lobby and hot pools area. There was so much space! The view of the mountains from our front patio was amazing. We found the loft to be reasonably clean and kept in good manner. The hot pools were something out of a dream with amazing views of the snow topped mountains. There are bbq's available for cooking, the transport bus to downtown Banff stopped directly in front of our room which was super convenient. The staff at the front desk were more than helpful and very welcoming. We can not wait to go back. This time for a longer stay.

We recently stayed at the Hidden Ridge Resort in the heart of spectacular Banff National Park. The vistas from this property are stunning. From our condo we had beautiful views of Mt Norquay and Mt Rundle, and you're just 5 minutes from downtown Banff. The large jacuzzi overlooking the mountain valley is also wonderful and the people at the front desk were very pleasant and helpful. But the property itself is tired. Our room was in need of a coat of paint and the fireplace screen was broken to the point of being almost unusable. A rating of 4 for this property is generous. Probably 3.5 would be more accurate.

Room Tip: Rooms facing west have a view of Mt Norquay.

My husband and I were on an Ontario to BC. road trip, and had planned on staying here on our way back home. Last minute, on a Saturday, we decided to stay here for a night before heading to BC. We lucked out, and their best room was available - the Premier King Jacuzzi Condo. Even though it was super expensive - almost $500 for a Saturday night - I decided to book it because it looked like one of the nicest rooms in all of Banff. And it is!

We stayed in Room 502 - which is perfect for privacy because it is not on the end - and other guests can't see you when you're in your outdoor private jacuzzi on the balcony. There is a full kitchen, dining area, living area with wood burning fireplace, 2 TV's, 2 bathrooms and a loft with a king size bed and a view of the mountains. The room is worth it for the view alone and the outdoor jacuzzi.

There were a couple of minor inconveniences that didn't ruin our stay - but you should be aware of. There is no air conditioning - so the room was difficult to keep a comfortable temperature. (Maybe something was wrong with the cooling system?) We opened our door to the balcony to let cool air in and we didn't use our fireplace for fear of how hot it would make the condo. Also - there is a limited supply of dishes in the condo. You can ask for more - but there are not enough initially supplied, so you have to do dishes more often (when you're on vacation). Like I said - it is stated that you can ask for more - but it would be nice if you didn't have to ask and they were already conveniently located in your condo. There are 4 Premier King Jacuzzi Condos and they are all located above the lobby - beside the outdoor hot tubs.....and on a Saturday night - that area is loud. The pools were full - with lots of 18-25 year olds.....not a problem for us - especially once we turned on the jets to our jacuzzi, as that drowned out the noise - but for some people, this could be annoying - so you may not want to stay in these rooms during the weekends or at peak times. Also, there is very limited space for large vehicles or vehicles towing a u haul trailer (in our case). And these spaces are not reserved for large vehicles - so any of the guests with small vehicles can park there, even though they can park anywhere else on the property and fit. The hotel has to do something about friends and family of registered guests who show up just to use the outdoor pools (and take up parking spaces). They are not paying guests and shouldn't be allowed into the resort.

Fortunately, the good outweighs the bad!! The location is perfect. Just outside of Banff - surrounded by mountains. Gorgeous outdoor hot tubs/hot pools with view of the mountains. Free bus pass to town. In-room kitchens and barbecues throughout the property to save on eating out. And a very friendly 'front of the house' staff that are a pleasure to deal with.

We enjoyed our stay soo much - we decided to stay one night on our way back home. We booked the lowest room category - the Deluxe One Bedroom Condo. We payed just under $150/night. Great value for Banff since we got more than just a room - but a small condo with kitchen, dining area and living area with wood-burning fireplace. However, I would not book this condo again. You do not have a private patio or balcony. There is a walkway in front of this unit - so other guests walk directly in front of the unit. Also - when you are in the bedroom - it feels like you are in a basement, because the window is up high and at ground level. I had requested an upgrade prior to check-in (since I had just paid $500/night a few days earlier) but I did not receive one even though the resort was not full. Disappointed - but not expecting it - just hopeful, I guess. And when the condo had a few issues - out stay started out on the wrong foot. The fridge had no shelves. Maintenance came in one hour with shelves....but unfortunately they didn't fit - and our food came crashing down once we put some weight on them. I should have complained - but we wanted to get our vacation started and not have to wait around anymore for someone to fix it. Unfortunately our toilet didn't work either. You had to hold the flusher for a long time and wait for your 'waste' to go down. Fun. And the water would keep running if you didn't jiggle the handle properly. We made due - but I left a note for housekeeping to fix the problems so the next guests don't get annoyed. We stayed in Room 122 - and there is no wifi. I guess it is too far from the modem because it did work when I took my laptop to the lobby. But this room should not be advertised as having wifi. Like I said - we could have complained - but we are easy-going and didn't let it ruin our vacation. We would definitely return to Hidden Ridge Resort....just not book the lowest category unit.

Room Tip: Book room with PRIVATE balcony - Premier King Jacuzzi Condo is the BEST

We had an amazing stay at the Hidden Ridge Resort. Before coming, I expressed my preference for a room with a balcony (back deck) overlooking the woods, and that is exactly what we received! It was amazing. We had 3 beds. A downstairs bedroom for the adults, and then each of our children had their own beds in the loft upstairs. They also had their own bathroom up there which was nice. We loved the back deck. We would sit out there many nights. One night we counted 13 elk as they walked right through our "back yard". One afternoon we saw a coyote right off the deck as well. The kids swam in the warm pools twice and loved it both times. They weren't that crowded at all and was a nice way to relax after being out hiking/touring all day. We used the Banff Roam public transportation to get in and out of town a few times, and we actually even walked back to the hotel once, too. We never had a problem finding parking right outside of our room. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone considering traveling to Banff. We stayed 7 nights and would do it again in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: Rooms around the outside of the property have views into the woods

We have been coming to Banff for 13 seasons to ski, both in the winter and the spring. We're regulars at Hidden Ridge and they advised us several years ago to try another property while they were undergoing some renovations. It's always a pleasure to show up and be recognized. The units are perfect for families of all sizes to have a great ski trip. It's easy to cook and the local bus stops right in front so that the trip downtown doesn't require parking and the bus is free to guests. Looking forward to our next visit!

We were so excited about our stay here until we got checked in. We found ants in our room. Notified front desk 2 times. Nothing was done. We were given 10% off at check out. Not happy with it. Pools were a bit on the not hot side.
