If I could put a red alarm on top of this hotel I would.
There is NO AIR CONDITIONING IN ANY OF THEIR SUITES . I would have NEVER booked this hotel if I had known this. Coming off the Rocky Mountaineer (which had their AC break down and them telling us we HAD to book a Banff hotel our first night in) we walked into a NO AC Hotel. When I check-in it was the LAST thing the person at the front desk advised me of. Sort of an ‘Oh and by the way… there’s no air conditioning but we have 1 fan for you and maybe we can get you 2 but we’re scarce on fans right now’.
When we walked up to our floor, I witnessed 6 rooms who were using the Air Conditioning in the hallways by keeping their main hotel room door perched open using garbage and recycling bins (see photo). So, the hallways have AC, but the rooms do not?
Once we settled in, I called the front desk and asked where on your website does it state that you have no air conditioning? I felt foolish booking this hotel for 3 other people who are now being punished based on a decision that I had made. It’s a hot July night. Of course, we need AC, and you would hope Banff Hotels (tourist hotspot) would at least have that.
When I asked the front desk, I was told they don’t state anywhere on their website that they do not have air conditioning. I made it clear you know people would find another hotel if they had known this information. They informed me that they do note that rooms come with an electrical fan… I was also told all older hotels on the strip also have no air conditioning and it’s not just them. The person offered another fan and wanted to be sure I mentioned that in my review. So, there’s the mention. They also mentioned I could speak to the regional manager the next morning as they would be in. I said that’s not necessary and that I’d be leaving a review. Thankfully we only stayed there one night and hit up Canmore where we stayed at the Pocaterra Inn (LOVED THIS PLACE GO THERE).
After the person on the line advised other hotels that are old don’t have AC, I proceeded to call the front desk of all the hotels close by down the strip.
Please take note of where you should and shouldn’t stay if you’re looking for AC IN YOUR HOTEL ROOM:
Hotel Canoe & Suites – New hotel, AC YES
Moxy – AC YES
Canalta Lodge – AC YES (building age 90’s, recently renovated last 5 years)
Rundlestone Lodge – AC YES (building age was told more than 20 years old)
Fox Hotel and Suites – AC in suites, not in regular rooms. (30 years old approx.)
Other Cons – Barely any outlets in the room and the most convenient one was not working. Calcification all over the shower head.
