“Amazing stay!”
Reviewed 20 October 2016

Right from check in everything was great! we traveled in a group ( booked 2 rooms). when we checked in they were able to put us side by side. Parking was ok, ( we traveled in small SUV, was underground) and lobby was welcoming. We stayed in one lodge room, and one king size room located on 4th floor.
the rooms was clean, welcoming. The cave pool vent shot out across in front our room which was cool see the steam. Only dislike about our room on 4th floor was no water pressure in shower.
Breakfast was amazing and actually filling. Pool area was very interesting and unique. Hotel was within walking distance to down town. Would defiantly come back.

Room Tip: higher floors, less water pressure.

We had a great stay at The Fox, easily walking distance from downtown. We had a smaller room that did the trick for our one night stay. There is no A/C but a fan is provided. The "Cave & Basin" inspired hot tub area is a true gem so make sure you pack your swim gear. Underground parking is a nice bonus too. We would stay again for sure.

this is a faux timber style hotel posing as some kind of lodge. The rooms are strangely designed so that the bathrooms are tiny and the extra room is a suite wasted because of its strange configuration. All in all a very poor night was spent here after arriving on the train. To make matters worse the hotel restaurant is actually a Chillli's - something have never seen before with the Chili style food. The so called gourmet breakfast(free) was so awful it would be criminal to charge for it. Just an overall bad experience. There are numerous small hotels in this town that are probably at least minimally better but stay away from this one !

Room Tip: are there any ?

This is a great place to stay. Rooms are nice and reasonably priced. Try the hot tub "cave" pool. Staff were all very helpful and friendly...... We enjoyed our stay here. They helped us with our luggage issues that we had with our airline.

Room Tip: Try the hot tub pool!

Good location, walk distance from the city center. Good parking lot. Room not that big, but VERY confortable and super clean, nice bathroom. Good service. Only the breakfast area its a little crowded. Pool it's amazing, and they offer towels there.

I know as a traveller it is so hard to choose hotels especially when you have not been to the town before. I debated The Fox with so many others. Truthfully, most of the hotels along Banff Ave were really nice.

We were pleased with the Fox.
The doors to the hotel rooms face outside not an indoor hallway like most hotels. It can get chilly when you open the door or if you just want to dash to the lobby, restaurant or pool. It is also inconvenient never really having light in the room because you have to keep your blinds drawn tight (unless you want passerbys to look in your room) It was kinda of weird walking down the hall and seeing people in their hotel rooms laying on their beds.

The rooms are small but adequate. Beds, bedding and pillows are very nice. I loved the bathroom sink area was outside of the washroom so two people could get ready at the same time. The shelf unit beside the sink was excellent to keep all my toiletries neat and in order. It took until almost 4pm to have our room made up though. No big deal really just felt like a long time.

The TV was the worst! This reminds me I should have said something to the staff. We only watched TV at night. You are in beautiful country so TV shouldn't really be your focus but was it frustrating to change the channels. Delays. Jumps ahead. Not turning the channel. Basically it was broken. One movie $14.95 (yikes)

It was excellent having Chili's in the lobby area. We dined there and it was fabulous. So close to the room. The breakfast was excellent and included in the lodging price. That was one of the reasons for choosing the hotel to begin with. Really great breakfast. Bacon $2.75 extra but they had 3 waffle irons all going. Very sweet wait staff in the morning. They are hard workers ensuring the tables are cleared and the buffet was always stocked. It is busy at breakfast.

LOVED the underground parking. Warning if you have a big oversized vehicle though. I saw some big pick up trucks down there having a very hard time. We were lucky to zip in and out with no issues and always found a spot. Well lit. Clean for a garage. There is one very slow elevator but at least they have one.

Now the best part...the HOT pool. We used it a lot. We did lots of hiking and it got cold this past weekend. Only one time it was really busy but the other times we practically had it to ourselves. The Hot Pool is one of the reasons I would totally come back to the Fox.
I also used the onsite computer to print off our boarding passes for our flight home. Quick and easy. No extra costs for internet (another reason I chose this hotel) Wifi was great and fast.

Last by not least was walking distance to the village. When it is raining, cold and snowing like this past weekend it seems farther than it is. We walked it one time as we are not lazy but darn it felt far! Next times we drove and parked at all the ample parking in the village. I wish it was closer but it is what it is. I suppose it is a beautiful walk in summer.

Under ground parking
Hot Tub pool
Large spacious suite

Cold room. Despite two thermostats and having them set 20-22°C we had to turn the up higher and grab extra blanket. I guess that's why they have an extra space heater in the closet. It was right around freezing outside so not that cold, but the climate control was awful.

Noise. You can hear talking in other rooms, outside, chairs moving. Poor sound insulation, matched the heat retention

Terrible. If you need connectivity, this place sucks. Slow, dropped signal

If you drive a full size SUV or truck, be prepared for tight squeeze. Nice to park secure out of the elements but little room for error in parking the truck

The breakfast option was limited. Once is ok. I wouldn't want to eat there two or three days in a row.

I'd stay elsewhere again
