“Informative and Energizing”

A truly awesome day! We trekked through the woods on fresh snow with lightweight snowshoes with metal crampons. Joel has a vast knowledge of the area and shared info on carpenter ants, woodpeckers, and more. His backpack is a veritable tickle trunk of gear! As it was St. Patricks Day, Joel had green icing for the tasty homemade power bars that we enjoyed along with cocoa. Joel was watchful of the capabilities of the group and I would not hesitate to recommend Great Divide Day Hikes.

“Very professional and nice guide, great fun, stunning views, adapted to our wishes.”
Reviewed 6 March 2012

Since we hiked the Rockies many times in summer we asked for a private snowshoetrip with special attention for mountainviews. Joel was our guide and gave us the choice of two tours with beautiful mountainviews. We chose the trip to Island Lake, a small lake surrounded by spectacular mountains. In summer you can't reach this lake so we were extra thankful Joel had chosen this trip. We walked through beautiful forest and he told us many interesting things. We saw a lot of animal tracks and he explained which animal made the tracks. He told us about the fireburns, plants and was so enthousiastic. We loved every minute of it. We felt very welcome, just like walking with a good friend.Thank you Joel, you made us feel very special!!!

“Super, a walk with snowshoes”
Reviewed 26 February 2012

We recommend : a guided snowshoeing tour belongs to a perfect day out in winter.
Although we have hiked a lot before in summer, this definitely is an absolutely fabulous new experience. Walking between the trees on snow which is 150 cm high . . . wow. Together with an experienced guide like Joel this is absolutely troublefree and really enjoyable. Joel knows about everything on the area, the forest and the snow itself. So it was not only walking and enjoying the fantastic scenery, but it also opened our eyes to so many things we would never have had seen ourselfes.
Thanks again for an unforgettable day.

“Snowshoeing is the best part of the trip!”
Reviewed 20 February 2012

Me and my friends went to the family day special snowshoeing trip with Joel, it was our first time and certainly won't be the last. Joel is very professional, easy-going and approachable. He led us through the whole trip with great patience even when some of us were slowing down...he made us feel very comfortable.. He has no problem extending the trip when we wanted to!!! just for us!!! and the hot tea/chocolate and home made power bar was heaven!! I won't say too much now because you would have to go yourself to experience it. I must say the experience is a must have and I am looking forward to hike with them during summer!
