Honestly, for what we paid, I expected way more. As I work for a competitor, I sincerely expected a very different experience. I paid 1800 CAD for two nights and two dinners and the only really nice thing was the upgrade we got to a junior suite as honeymooners. The service was completely impersonal and unprofessional, we were not recognized as honeymooners by the staff and the same seemed completely unaware of the rules of the package we had booked (probably because they were too much engaged in managing the Brewster and Rocky Mountaineer groups inhouse). The package reported a luxury breakfast in the privacy of our room and the staff told us that we would have to pay the service charge in any case, so we ended up having breakfast in the Poppy Brasserie.
When we went to have the pre-dinner drinks included in our package, we had to wait almost an hour to get a window seat (as they are not bookable and are available also to walk-in guests) and the waiter was not sure if she could accept the voucher (figures). Furthermore the concierge told us there was a 30 CAD limit, whereas the voucher reported 20 CAD per drink, adding more confusion.
And, by the way, the package reports " All inclusions are offered per day.", but we were not given any sparkling wine/truffle and pre dinner drinks for the second day of our stay.
The only highlight of the stay was Melanie at the Walliser Stube, who really went the extra step, and the view from the room, of course.

Spent one night in a deluxe lake view room (219) which had a wonderful view of the lake, but what a shame the windows didn't make the view a wow factor; instead of being big, panoramic windows they were quite small with the glass 'divided' into four by the frames - so the view had window frame in the way. Quite hard to explain what I mean but looking st the outside of the hotel it seemed that most windows were not like this.

We had lunch in the Lakeview Terraxe and that was really good. We also had an evening meal in the Fairview Restaurant but that wasn't so good - nice food that had been messed around with: rack of lamb, which was tasty, but served with a stodgy wedge of risotto rice - cery odd and unappealing. It was very expensive and wish we hadn't bothered.

Room was very comfortable, especially the bed and would definitely recommend this, hotel.

Dear BerksTravellers,

Thank you for choosing Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, and for taking the time to share a helpful review with us.

Please accept our apologies for the concerns you outlined in your review, including your dining experience at Fairview and the size of the window within your guestroom. We will be sure to share your comments with our Executive Team for further review and discussion. Please note, being located in both a protected National Park as well as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, we are unable to proceed with hard renovations a typical city property would see often as part of their upkeep.

Thank you for your review and rating. We hope to welcome you back to the stunning destination of Lake Louise again soon!

25 years ago we stayed at the Fairmont for our honeymoon. For our 25th wedding anniversary we even stayed in the same room. The crowds of people in the main lobby gave it a cruise ship vibe ... Lots of high end shopping on the main floor... The view made up for the very small rooms and tiny bathroom. The staff was pleasant however they seemed to all be in training. We got abit frustrated with much of the misinformation we received. However James at the front desk was my hero. First, we never got housekeeping and second no one seemed to know about there fitness program. There were brochures everywhere but no knowledgable staff. Oh well... James heard us and made it all good. We had a lovely time but for the money I prefer something less cruise ship like and a little more refined.

Had a 2 night stay here with Rocky Mountaineer. The lake view room was fantastic, the lake is still frozen but thawing at the edges. Lots of the trails are closed or restricted due to avalanche risk which meant we spent more time enjoying the hotel than I expected.
The staff were fabulous, friendly, helpful and very attentive without being obtrusive. The wee cafeteria is open 24 hours a day which is a fantastic idea when you're out and about.
The climbing faces at the end of the lake are great fun - for participants and spectators alike. The Rockies are awesome and the scale immense. Also recommend the helicopter tours from here or Banff.

Room tip: Lake view is worth it!

The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is beautifully located at the head of Lake Louise with a stunning view. It is a huge luxury hotel with various activities going on all the time. There are luxury shopping stores to slowly browse through. The rooms are fantastic and all have the great view of the lake and mountains. You have great views from many of the lounges. Wonderful live music most of the time. You have direct access to hiking trails from the hotel along the lake as also boating-kayaking from the jetty on the left bank. Because of the popularity, found that the restaurants are a bit crowded but the food and fare is wonderful. While there you would visit the Banff national park with the stunning views of the Rockies and glaciers. Other than Lake Louise, must visits are (among others), Lake Moraine and twin peaks and Lake Minnewanka which are very close to the hotel.

Room tip: Views of Lake Louise.
