Originally I booked for 3 nights but because there was some complication with my schedule, I extended my stay for another 3 nights. The bed was very comfortable. The first 2 nights I was alone in my room. Due to covid, they only put 2 guests in one 4 beds room. There is a toilet in every room. The shower is communal in the hallway. There are enough hangers for 2 people. All the facilities are kept very clean. The kitchen is big, but you need to sign up if you want to cook because there is a limit of how many people can be in at once. The communal area upstairs is a very nice place to relax when I have to check out and check in again since they can’t put me in the same room when I extended my stay. WiFi is strong. There is a storage in the basement. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. It’s 10 mins walk to the plaza if one wants to go to the grocery, coffee shop, visitor center or to the bus stop. The price is quite high but it would be the cheapest in the area since campground spots are all booked up in the summer. Definitely stay here again when I come back to visit.

A bit on the exepensive side if you want to be in a private room, but it is Lake Louise. The buidling in nice and the restaurant is clean and has good food but again a bit pricey. Service is good and ans friendly staff.

Room tip: Top floor so it's not noisy from the other floors

As usual a meal after a full day of skiing is always welcome!

Beautiful building, rustic western classic.

The restaurant is moderately priced with good pricing on wine. The sausage pasta I had was hearty and delicious

I'd like to give a shoutout to Stephanie and Alana at the front desk! These ladies were super helpful in suggesting places around town and throughout Banff! I got to check out some beautiful hidden gems in the area because of them. HI Lake Louise is a great hostel with very affordable rates. I was in a 4-person room and had no issues. I was also the first up and the last to go to sleep so the roommates may not have been happy with the noise I was making so early. The hostel though was a good choice for me. Bedding and towels are included in the price and there were no hidden charges. You can store groceries/food in the kitchen reserved for guests or you can in the restaurant connected to the hostel. Looking for a cheap place to stay that is great quality, stay at HI Lake Louise. And talk to Stephanie and Alana!!

The main reason to stay here is budget given that Lake Louise is soooo… expensive but you need to be prepared for communal living and all that entails. The hostel is in a great location, right near the shops and if you’re on a budget, has a full kitchen and common area in both of the buildings so you can self-cater. The hostel is clean and most of the desk staff were great. There’s a laundry and a well-priced on-site restaurant for those nights when you just want someone else to cook and clean up. The rooms are basic but the biggest downside is the noise, from the rooms above, the rooms next door and worse still, the bathrooms if you happen to share a wall with one. The private rooms might seem really expensive for what they are, small, no tv, shared facilities but are still budget for Lake Louise. Private is a moot point, however as whilst you may not have strangers actually in your room, some of the rooms front a deck for example with picnic tables right outside the windows and ours adjoined a bathroom where we could hear everything happening. Yuk. Neither of these situations is my idea of private. If you don’t expect too much, aren’t a light sleeper or are happy wearing ear plugs, you should be fine. Take a couple of locks to secure your belongings. The rooms are all key card entry however the cleaners have a habit of opening all the doors on the floor when they clean which does put your valuables at risk unless they are locked away.
