We eat here every lunch time during our 2week Skiing at Lake Louise. Not the cheapest at the resort but the food is really exceptional. The daily specials and the Seafood risotto are a must

We did not realise until we saw a sign on the mountain that a new restaurant had opened at the Lake Louise ski area and we decided to give it a try. We were most impressed. There are not many places to eat on the mountain and they tend to be rather basic in food, service and atmosphere. The Whitehorn Bistro is completely different. A huge restaurant space with an industrial style vibe and very modern decoration. The prices were a bit high but reasonable for the quality of the food. We really enjoyed the kale Caesar salad and the cheese and charcuterie platter was excellent. Generally speaking we do not drink alcohol when we are skiing but this was such a lovely restaurant we could not resist succumbing to a glass of very nice wine. The service was very good, friendly, helpful and professional.

Firstly the Whitehorn restaurant has lovely food. Sadly that is today where the praise ends. We love our food and not prone to complaining. So my husband and I wanted a treat ( knowing it was more costly than some other places to eat) reserved a table for our final meal in Lake Louise before homeward bound the following day. We prebooked the 1.45 slot that morning, rather than the 12 noon slot. We were prompt and on arrival at restaurant they informed us they were shutting at 2pm to lay tables for an evening event so if we could be quick with our ordering. After 15 minutes we finally put our order in for food. The starter Mussels were lovely, as was my husbanbs fish chowder, but we had to ask for cutlery and there was no finger bowl for the mussels. To our surprise half way through our starter they arrived with our mains, no apology, it was just placed on the table. This has never happened to me in any restaurant before inexpensive or not, and quite frankly rude and unacceptable. Of course my meat waz cold when I got to it and my husbands ribeye was overcooked ( ordered medium rare). Unable to get anyones attension we ate our food. When it came to desert we were told the kitchen was closed some 40 minutes after sitting down. So in response and after complaining at the end of the meal, with no aplology or bill discount, I would strongly advise that you check when the night skiing is on so you dont receive the service we did and ask the staff to recognise this error when a taking a pre booking allow for extra time or notify the guest. Sadly a real downer on our last day with what otherwise has been a fantastic stay in Lake loiuse. For evening meals try the post hotel pub, Station House restaurant, and even the International Hostel has resonable food for the cost. For an alternative treat try Pre-bookinh Lake Louse fairmont for afternoon tea as sadly we missed out on this little treat, but sure to come back.

Hello Felicity,

At the Whitehorn Bistro, we endeavor to provide all guests with the best dining experience possible. Based on your comments it is clear that we missed the mark! First and foremost, please accept our apologies. While there was a sign posted at the restaurant entrance, it is obvious that the verbal messaging that should have taken place did not. Please know that we have taken your comments quite seriously. As such, we have turned this situation into a training opportunity. We have printed off your comments and shared them with all members of the Whitehorn Team. A broader discussion has taken place in both regard to the importance of clear and concise communication with all of our guests and how our actions can affect the guest experience. Should you be willing to give us another chance, I invite you to contact us personally so we can make this right!

We stopped for lunch a bit early as we needed to warm up anyways and did not want to go to the backside as Temple would have been very busy. The food and service was very good. There was not much of a selection of sandwiches on the menu. There were appies and more main courses besides the burger.
