It appears to be a great location...near the river and on the edge of downtown...buts its a little too much on the edge. The hotel is at the edge of China Town, so dining choices within walking distance were limited.

There is some construction going on, but it is not too bad, you just have to share the elevator with some construction folks. I never noticed noise, dust, or other issues.

The lobby is fantastic!!. The lounge & restaurant are a huge, airy, modern, open area, that is still warm and inviting. The big fireplace at one end finished out this great space. The bar was great and the drinks reasonably priced. The service and food in the restaurant were both way below average from a Marriott property. It took over 30 minutes just to get our breakfast order taken, then the food arrived cold. Over an hour for breakfast is totally unacceptable for a hotel.

The room was freshly redone, modern, with lots of outlets and a great work ares...but the bathroom had several things off. With both the shower and sink, temperature control was almost impossible. The fixture handles were loose and sloppy, and the difference between getting ice cold and scalding hot is almost uncontrollable. What should be a relaxing shower turns into constant fiddling with the temp.

The worst issue was the TV. The TV picture was choppy and the sound cut out on every channel, even the Hotel's continuous info\chimerical channel. Not just a little, it was too bad to attempt to watch. I called the desk multiple times. Maint would come to the room, and tell me it was the entire floor...like that was somehow supposed to make it OK. I never got as much as an apology from the desk clerk or the maint guy. Since it was the entire floor, I must assume that hotel mgmt does not consider a working TV as a requirement for keeping rooms in service.

I've stayed at this hotel many times in the past but never did a review. The hotel is located in a prime spot. The staff is excellent and generally care about the customer. The rooms are nice, as is the pool and hot tub. When we stayed there only 3 elevators were running, four would help with the congestion but I'm not totally convinced it would. The food is very good but the service was not great. The staff is excellent but slow.

A very nice upscale hotel in downtown Calgary. A bit of construction to the property but does not take away from the ambiance. Staff were friendly and accomodating. Room was large and immaculate. Our only complaint was the emergency vehicles leaving their depot which was located directly below our hotel.
