The Fairmont Palliser is housed in a historic and palatial building in downtown Calgary right next to the Calgary Tower. The lobby is luxuriously appointed and the family guest room with 2 Queen Beds was equally nice. The property has retained its old world charm with tall ceilings and ornate furniture while providing all the modern amenities required for a comfortable stay. It is close enough to the local attractions including Stephen Avenue. Your perfect base to explore Calgary.

We came in to this hotel with high expectations based on previous stays at Fairmont hotels, and we ended up being slightly disappointed because the hotel, while nice, didn't quite meet our high expectations. My family only stayed here one night as part of a larger trip. The hotel's location is great, right in the middle of downtown and near the Calgary Tower and the Stephen Avenue pedestrian area. We were able to just leave the car at the hotel and just walk everywhere, which was great. Our room was smaller than we expected based on the room description, with the beds taking up most of the room space. The major disappointment was the breakfast buffet, which was very limited in selection and a couple of the items were bordering on inedible, which was very surprising to us. Service in general was courteous and quick, but overall things were just "okay".

From the doorman to housekeeping, and all the lobby and Gold Floor staff, service was incredible. Without a blink, we had whatever we asked for and then had requests anticipated and met with! Room was large, turn down service, penthouse on the gold floor was beautiful and food outstanding. Very homey. So glad we stayed there.

Room tip: near elevators and view of the city...high up for quiet

What a fantastic evening. We found a a great deal on tripadvisor for a Saturday night stay. The restaurants nearby were very nice and location wise we cannot have asked for more. I was walking distance from now valley college for my exam the next day.
