A good family stop

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Nov 12, 2024
Nice hotel, easy check-in and out. We got a pool walk-out family suite with a bunk and separate room. Although those rooms seemed older, they were good for us as we mainly wanted pool access. The beds were clean, there was bathroom supplies (shampoo etc) and smart tvs in both rooms. The breakfast was decent, nothing special just your typical eggs, sausages, pancakes, toast and vegetables (the veggies were an unusual option for breakfast!). All in all, a good experience.

The atrium pool experience with the main floor walkout was very nice. It was a different experience due to lighting when it was morning vs. evening - so plan to swim/soak more than once. Kids brought their goggles and the pool is deep on one end so that was especially fun for them. The bunk beds were a nice touch to keep everyone comfortable. The tv will cast to your phone to play YouTube with a qr code.

Everything was great, location was perfect, close to everything I needed, staff were polite, helpful and courteous. Room was clean, bed was perfect for me, shower was great, especially after spending 30 hours driving from Dawson City, Yukon. Wouldn't have bee as long, but hitting a bison slowed the trip down a bit.

I noticed before booking that this hotel is either loved or hated. Put us in the loved category, we'll certainly be back. We had a double queen walk out to the courtyard. That was the best! No more going swimming and doing the crawl back to the room, dripping wet in an elevator. The rooms are very basic but were clean and comfortable. The breakfast, again, was very basic but we enjoyed it. The staff at this hotel have all been amazing. We live in rural Alberta and have to travel to the city every few months for doctors appointments. I think that this will be our new regular place to stay.

Room tip: It is NOT the best location in the city and yes, there are homeless nearby. I don't roam around outside at night so it didn't affect us at all.

I booked two nights at this hotel for a work trip and I did not stay the second night. I debated not staying the first night but decided I was probably being a snob but the longer I was in this room the worse it got.

Pulling into the parking lot it was immediately clear that the photos were not current. The lobby is nice. It’s clean and modern and well lit. The staff was friendly, quick and accommodating. Five stars to the staff.

From the lobby, you enter a pretty dark hallway and a maze to get to the elevator. Stepping off the elevator the flooring was absolutely filthy. Again, hallway carpeting, I’m probably just being a snob.

The room smelled like an old hotel room - you know the smell - but it smelled clean overall. And that’s where it ended. I did not use the bath/shower as it did not look hygienic. I wiped down the desk in the room because it looked liked it had a film on it. I also wiped down the chair as it was sticky…. I needed to work so I needed to utilize this space. The chair was set to the lowest position and could not be raised. There were mystery splatters on the wall, chipped furniture and walls, again, not a deal breaker. It was the hairs in the bathroom that ultimately made me checkout a day early. And the massive barking dogs in a room across from the elevator that started barking when the elevator opened or a person walked by the room. Instantaneous deal breaker.

The photos for this property are either very old or edited or taken in updated rooms m, one of which, I did not receive. It felt like a bait and switch.

The location was super convenient for my work event but the parking lot was sketchy and I was paranoid about my vehicle.

the place was very nice and warm, the people were nice too and there was a kitchen too.
the room I was in had 2 beds, a tv, a table and a fridge that worked fine
when our card stopped working because you put it in the pocket with the phone we could just ask to fix the card so it was pretty good.
1010

Room tip: if you need to stay in the hotel while you earn money for an house or need to temporarily live there it' perfect, there is a shop too
