Pipers is a great spot to visit. A nice walk and a great beach to sit and relax. We can kayak, paddle board and swim.

Great place to visit for visitors and locals alike. See the ferry come to Nanaimo's Departure Bay. Lots of wildlife yet close to city.

We saw a mama killer whale and her baby there which is cool.
Parking can be a little hectic in peak times (especially near end of June with multiple school trips a day).
Definitely worth a visit.

Piper's Lagoon is one of the best parks in Nanaimo. It is peaceful, picturesque, and filled with nature. It is especially good for children because they can participate in free play by climbing on rocks (the original jungle gym). The trail is easy, and there are slight variations you can take along the way. A must see for all!

You can’t take away from the beauty of this area. Next to the parking lot there is a grassy area good for recreation or picnicking as is the mostly rocky beach.
When the tide goes out, the lagoon is a mud flat so go when the tide is high if you can so it’s more visually appealing.
Going out to the peninsula area is where things get challenging- this is the amazing part of the area that people with accessibility issues, small children and the elderly will have issues.
Keep this in mind and you will have an enjoyable visit.
Oh and on most summer days the parking lot is full so go early.
