We recently used the SS Sicamous for our wedding reception and it was an absolutely perfect venue. The history of the ship provided guests with ample things to do and see throughout the evening. With so many places to sit and mingle between dancing and eating, the Sicamous was a great venue for kids and adults!

The venue will hold up to 100 guests for a sit down dinner in the ballroom which was not going to work for us. Instead we had servers wander throughout the venue serving a mixture of hot and cold eats. The ship has a full working kitchen which was perfect for our caterer to keep the food rolling out (highly recommend Brodo Kitchen for your catering needs). The ship has all of its original rooms laid out as they once were, which provided ample seating and great discussion points. The bar, although a small area, worked exceptionally well. The only thing to keep in mind is that you will need coolers for this as there is a limited amount of fridge space because of the size of the bar area.

Having grown up in Penticton and with many guests from the area, it was amazing how few had been on the boat previously. Although I am a bit of a history nerd, it is something that all locals and visitors need to visit at least once. Talking with the employees and volunteers on board provides you with a glimpse back into life on the boat when transportation throughout the Okanagan was done along the lake instead of along the roadways. All of our guests commented that they loved the venue. I am sure you will enjoy it as well!

For those looking into a wedding in Penticton, do yourself a favour and email or call for a tour of the Sicamous. It wasn't originally in our plans, but once we went on the boat we knew it was the perfect fit!

Fairly small museum. There were interesting things to see, but I suspect all but the most enthusiastic history buffs are in and out in 20 minutes. (Although, to be fair, I went through with my 3-year-old which might affect my perception.)

The best part was the model railroad. I have no idea about it's realism, but it is quite elaborate and fun to watch.

There are some nice views of Penticton and Okanagan lake from the upper levels.

This ship museum was worth the small admission price. They have a very cool and very large model train set of the kettle valley. One loonie and the train circles the entire landscapes so lovingly created. Kids of all ages love following it along.
Lots of interesting artifacts throughout the ship. The top levels are beautifully preserved and stately. You can even go all the way up to the captain's wheelhouse.
Great family fun for all ages.

Great venue and historical artifacts aboard the 'dry-docked' CPR's paddlewheeler, the SS Sicamous in Penticton, BC. Reasonable entrance fee and fine volunteers and student employees. Great model railway display with a Kettle Valley Railway theme.
