I have lived in the area for 20 years and have driven past the sicamous countless times never stopping in. A friend of ours had a wedding on board. Wow I am so impressed with the set up the professional look and the sheer size. So we'll done a must to see if you are visiting penticton.

Was at the Sicamous in June and while the main deck machinery is interesting, there is only one way to the other decks, stairs. While this may not be a problem for most, those of us with mobility issues, we don't get to see the whole boat. I understand there is a plan for an elevator once money is raised. The Sicamous was a vital part of the transportation history of the Okanagan, so it's nice to see it preserved as a reminder. The volunteers work hard to keep the ship in good repair, and while I can't say what the upper decks are like, I have seen pictures, and it looks nice. I would recommend a tour, people will see what it took to power such a ship, and get a sense of what travel was like then. The only reason I'm giving it an average rating, is access issues.

Our daughter's wedding reception was held aboard the historic, SS Sicamous in October 2015. There were 80 guests and they all raved about the beautiful, unique venue. Eighty guests seemed to be the perfect number. We had a head table and twelve rectangle tables for the dinner and it worked out perfectly. We moved the head table after dinner and there was plenty of room to dance the night away! The theme was 'vintage glamour' and the SS Sicamous fit the bill perfectly with the antique furniture, ladies saloon & gentlemen's quarters. We loved the different areas on the ship, that guests could explore. Guests especially loved going outside on the deck to view the moon, stars and lake. The grand staircase was a stunning back drop for wedding photos! Jessie and the staff were most helpful in assisting us before, during and after the wedding. We opted for the package where you had access to the ship on Friday night for decorating, all day Saturday and two hours to clean up on Sunday. That worked out very well. Thank you, Jessie and SS Sicamous staff! Would highly recommend the SS Sicamous for a wedding venue. It was lovely and magical! The setting was spectacular on the shores of Lake Okanagan!

If you go to Penticton, you must visit the SS Sicamous Marine Museum. Only then will you get the full history of the lake and of course Penticton. This is a wonderfully done museum, and it is meticulously well kept. If you are a model railroad fan, there is a huge HO gauge railroad in the luggage/freight area in the middle of the ship from a local club. The Ship is all still there, and you can climb all over it, and there is a lot of info here, and people around that can answer questions for you. Next to the Sicamous are some other ships too which you will surely find interesting.

The SS Sicamous is one of the many treasures of Penticton, but certainly likely the most photographed. I had no idea it was so interesting inside too. There are many rooms done up museum quality and it shows very impressively. You can relax in a few of the Lounges and even play cards. The event we had served food, alcohol and had a dance. What an amazing place to look around and get lost in the history of a bygone era. I sure wish we could have taken a trip around the lake on it.
