Very knowledgable staff and I like the combination of visitor's centre and wine store. They have a great selection of wines and staff that can recommend the best.

After an hour or so shopping with a friend, we had found the best red and a little white that the Okanagan had to supply. Our last shop of the day was at the Wine Country Visitor Wine Store, we picked the last of it and my friend noticed that they actually do shipping as well. My friend was all set up with all 12 packaged and ready to be sent over to Quebec for his family christmas gifts, about 300 worth of the best of the best. I asked about insurance, the lady said no. Weeks later my friend heard the package never arrived, upon further research the package was not sent in heated shipping, the best of the best of Okanagan Wine country froze on route. Going back to the visitor centre for some recourse and they had quite literally just washed their hand of the situation and said they couldn't help. This made me a little bitter, and have yet to shop there.
On the other hand, previously, I received fantastic help and knowledge from the gentlemen working there.

I am very pleased with this wine/tourism centre overall. Often they will even have wines sold out at the wineries! I managed to purchase one of the last bottles of a highly recommended vintage here. Also there is a guy working here who is in his mid-20s to early 30s and his recommendations are excellent. Beware though some of the employees will try to push inferior quality wines from some of the less popular wineries as well. I've even tasted some terrible wines here that they were offering as samples. A good rule of thumb is if the wine is cheap skip it and throw a few extra dollars for a better quality product. Towards the back there is an overwhelming mass of advertisement and brochures for local attractions. Absolutely ask for the sheet with the winery addresses and hours of opening and wine tasting fees organized by area. This document is invaluable epecially if you are venturing through something like the Naramata bench where there is so much choice. The staff for the travel section aren't the best, especially as some are volunteers so you will have to navigate yourself don't expect them to be too helpful. They do have maps etc. but it's best to do your research on the Internet before you go here to get maps or brochures. I don't think they even have Internet kiosks for the public. Also some of the best things to do in the Okanagan are free or low-cost and they do not promote these as well as they could. For the higher end stuff, I highly recommend attending winery concerts, a good lunch or dinner at mission hill, and go sailing & skinny-dipping on Okanagan lake on a moonlit night.
