To be in a place where the environment has not been spoiled. Your hosts, Jamie and Megan, are so knowledgeable and take you on pontoon tours with sightings of bears, eagles, whales, birds, and wolves. The accommodations are very comfortable, the food outstanding, but it is your hosts that make the lodge shine. It is a once in a lifetime experience in every aspect!

I have just read all the reviews with 4 stars or less. Only two of them (both 4 star) are about the current operation started by Jamie Hahn last year. Please disregard all that pre-dates Jamie's operation.
It is now a top class experience, run by people who are passionate about everything to do with the wilderness, including bears and whales. Obviously there can be no guarantees that wild life will appear to order, but there is much more to this 3 night trip than wildlife sightings and whirring camera lenses. We were lucky to see several bears as well as humpback whales bubble fishing. Our party bonded quickly so meal times (with great food cooked by Marcel) were fun with much repartee as well as Jamie entertaining us with his own songs accompanied on his guitar. Some people also went snorkelling or out in the kayaks. There was also a late night sauna to enjoy.
Yes, it's a floating lodge in the middle of the wilderness, so don't expect city hotel amenities, but if you go with an open mind and a love of the country and its wildlife you'll have an experience you won't forget.

We took a tour to this BC gem. The place is great and the fact that cannot be reached by car but only by sea plane or boat makes the place quite exclusive...and expensive. The day we took the tour was, under climate conditions, very tough...with wind, heavy rain...
So try to visit the sanctuary with better weather conditions...this will help you to spot bears on the shore...

Went on our boat and called the Rangers before entering the sanctuary.
Scenery was fantastic
Sow and and cub were on the beach and came out for a swim while we watched them from our boat.
Something that shouldnt be missed while on the North Coast

What I thought at first was another tourist attraction, turned out to be one of the most amazing day out I lived.
Set in an incredibly well preserved environment, you feel so far away from the modern world, the sanctuary truly deserves its name.
Beautiful nature, grizzlys, eagles, very comfortable boat, great explanations from the lovely guides.
A must if you have a free day in Prince Rupert.
