“Lovely B&B Self cater breakfast”
Reviewed 19 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Room, patio and breakfast supplies first class. Lacked a microwave . radio (TV) or suitcase stand(s) but had excellent wifi. Fresh fruit , yoghurt eggs, milk, jam. bread and granola for breakfast were excellent quality. Enjoyed our stay. Suite was large and comfortable but the bed springs were noisy when one person turned over.

“Best B&B experience ever!”
Reviewed 6 October 2014 for a stay in October 2014

This oasis in the trees is exactly what we were looking for after cycling into Salt Spring Island. It was perfectly located and stocked with top quality breakfast ingredients, art and reading materials. Although attached to the main residence there was a private entrance and plenty of privacy.

“Relaxing!”

We stayed at the Gallery for two nights in August. What a quiet and relaxing place to stay! Comfortable and roomy, the studio we stayed in had everything we could possible have needed. We were within walking distance of the town of Ganges and there were so many things to do and see in the area. We were able to have a relaxing breakfast without having to be somewhere at a specific time, all ingredients were supplied to make a wonderful meal! Our hosts were able to recommend eateries in the area and we did a lot of exploring! The grounds were beautiful and we explored the gallery and the outdoor, night lit sculptures. Was a wonderful stay!

“Relaxing Setting”
Reviewed 9 April 2014 for a stay in March 2014

We actually travelled on business, but if you are the type that loves walking and the outdoors this may well be the place you want to stay. The first you see when you drive in is the gallery and behind a fence making for privacy is the accommodations.

Right at the entrance gate is the "Log Cabin". Down further is what I would call an older renovated three unit row housing complex. Two suites are rentals and the third (far end) is used by the hostess Celia. We stayed in the end suite. It had an open pleasant quaint feel about it. Windows overlooking the yard and at the back a little picnic area (not sure if this is a shared area with the neighboring suite since it was off season when we stayed). Of the three available choices, I think we had the best in view of privacy.

The kitchen has what you need for two people, plus for a longer stay you will appreciate the dishwasher. Kitchen table has only two chairs but if you are planning on having company you might want to inquire up front if extra chairs are available. Personally we found the chairs very uncomfortable for sitting so not sure if you would use the kitchen table for playing games (that are available onsite).

The other room is a large combo sitting room/bedroom. Two tub chairs with a very bright light so if you like reading at night there will be no issues in seeing what you are reading. Beautiful end table between the chairs was made by a local artist. The bed was comfortable. Note: no TV. Internet available but not in all places in the room for some reason.

Huge beautiful bathroom - shower only.

Breakfast - Some will love it, others not. Breakfast items are left in your fridge and that way you can make what you want when you want. We've never stayed at a place called a B&B where you make your own breakfast but I also liked the idea that you then could do your own thing. Their website states "Breakfast makings are provided: milk, eggs, butter, fruit and granola". There was also a fabulous huge homemade buns but no jam or the likes. There was two types of juice also provided. Local coffee beans are provided which you grind your own and make coffee with a French press pot.

Recommend: Bring a very good flashlight. Very dark at night and no lighting. Tried to put on our porch light and it would not turn on. Thankfully we had a good flashlight with us.

Pro's: Close to Ganges, the stores - would have to be a strong walker otherwise you would have to have a car available. Clean pleasant surroundings. Pond on the premises. Great place to come and veg and explore the surroundings.

Con's. Lack of space to store or hang your clothes. Small closet but where the hanger is your shirts would be on the ground. Nothing to set a suitcase on - perhaps most who stay are backpackers so this will accommodate them fine. Confusing where you should park - just anywhere under the trees.

Personal note: I will say that I would recommend this to ones looking for this type of holiday spot. I wouldn't recommend it for a business trip. We stayed off season so it is hard to properly evaluate for the summer season. Celia and her partner seem to be run off their feet, always on the go. Not even time to open their gallery but in offseason sometimes this is the time you get other things done before the summer season hits. Thankfully your holiday can be just the opposite if this setting is just what you are looking for.

“May be the best place to stay on the island”

On an island internationally known for its artists, this Provence-like B&B is attached to an outdoor sculpture gallery under tall cedars, and yet we (in our 70s) could walk into town. Across the street, through the woods, a short walking path, also filled with sculptures along the way, we could enjoy the 3-diamond hotel's grounds, yet we were glad to return to our spacious studio. The books on the shelf are literary; the breakfasts (fresh breads and eggs and berries and more) superb; the bathroom's huge. The photos here don't show the entranceway, ample to place our coats and luggage from six weeks travel. Our hosts made of us aware of art openings and know the other galleries and artist's studios well. They organized the huge and impression exhibition of sculptures made of wood, scattered among sites in Vancouver's botanical garden all summer. We, obviously, were pleased with our quiet, visually calm, delightful lodgings.

“We loved this place!”
Reviewed 25 July 2013 for a stay in July 2013

This is a beautiful little guest suite with 1 bedroom, eat-in kitchen, bath and private patio. The suite is separated from the owner's home by an attached shed so it is private and quiet. It is situated 3 miles from the ferry terminal. We traveled car-free, and the owners (Celia and Nick) were more than happy to drive us to and from the ferry with our luggage. They also stocked the little fridge in our suite with delicious breakfast treats including fresh eggs, homemade jam, and Nick's special granola. You can walk to the bustling and very cute town of Ganges in about 12 minutes (longer walking back because it is uphill) or rent bikes as we did to get all around the island. (Be warned: Salt Spring Island is beautiful but very hilly!)
