Had a holiday in Tofino with my husband and teenage son and stayed that the guesthouse. We left our son surfing and headed into town to drop off our gear and get a bite to eat. On the way back to the beach our car broke down. We rushed back to talk to Nick, who without hesitation drove us all the way back to Wickinnish Beach to pick up our son and bring us all back to town. Since it was a long weekend we would not be able to see a mechanic right away. Nick was leaving for Nanaimo the next day and offered to drop one of us off at the ferry. We decided our son would go and we did not feel this to be unsafe what-so-ever.
The evenings with the host and other guests were pure merriment! Sitting around sharing stories, laughs, music, food and drinks (even got to try a shot of fireball!).
Yes this might not be the type of accommodation for everyone and some might misinterpret friendliness as crossing the boundary but this is Island Life; a way of life that we may have forgotten in our busy schedules. In such a short time we made many friends all with the same open mind.
My husband and I left the guesthouse saying that if we were to ever open our open place we would want to model it after the Tofino Travellers Inn.More
