“Winter Storm Watching on Vancouver Island”
Reviewed October 12, 2010

My wife and I went skiing in Whistler British Columbia. We had two extra days and decided to go exploring on Vancouver island. We had no idea about where we were going. We picked a route that would take us to the Pacific where we wanted to watch the sun go down.
We were delighted when we ended up at the Canadian Pacific Rim National Park. This park stretches between two wonderful harbor towns noted for their ocean kayaking and whale watching. Tofino to the north and Ucluelet to the south. Both offer unsurpassed food and accomodations not to mention the scenery. Both are sheltered harbors. Ucluelet has a blackwater harbor full of old wooden fishing boats complete with perfect reflections.
If you are in the area on vacation, give youself and family a treat and vist this area. My sunset photos at the Rim Park should speak for themselves. Enjoy!! P.S if storms are coming , be sure to make reservations in the winter months.

“My Favourite place in Tofino”
Reviewed October 9, 2010

My favourite spot to stay in Tofino on Vancouver Island is staying at the Crystal Cove Beach Resort on Mackenzie Beach. The log cabins are wonderful and can sleep six people with two double bedrooms and one bathroom. Al have views of the beach. Camping is possible at this resort as they have nice sites to park on. The gardens here are the best in Tofino. There are many beaches to visit here that are great for surfing. Lovely trials to walk on that are not difficult and many lead down to the beach.

“Who knew there were surfers in Canada?”
Reviewed October 8, 2010

Tofino and Ucluelet, British Columbia are hidden gems in the Pacific Coast region. The Wild Pacific Coast Trail goes through both small towns, offering stunning views of the meeting of mountains and sea. This trail is easily accessible from many locations, and most parts are suitable for small children, dogs on leashes, and bikes. Tofino offers many opportunities for biking (although the roads don't have much of a shoulder and it's quite hilly), as well as kayaking outfitters for half or full day excursions. We brought a double kayak of our own, hoping to rent another so that the whole family could go together, but most shops don't allow for rentals because of liability issues. As tourism is 95% of the local economy, be prepared to spend a good chunk of change if you do decide to go on a whale watching, fishing, surfing, or kayaking trip. However, the scenery is amazing, and the long windy drive is so worth it!

“We had a Whale of a time!!!”
Reviewed September 29, 2010

This town is just great!!! It's alive & kickin!!! We were there in May 2010. It was still a bit cold but the surfers were everywhere. Since we don't surf we went Whale watching & Bear watching with Jamie's Whale Watching. I can higly reccomend the Zodic tour!! It's like a roller coaster on water :-) The suits are really warm :-) We saw loads of Whales. It was amazing!!!! We've decided that we're definitely going back during the Orca season :-) Vancouver Island is probably the most beautiful Island an hte planet!!!

“Tofino Inlet Cottages”
Reviewed September 20, 2010

These accomodations are right on the water so we had an excellent view from our living room of the harbour and crab dock . It was fun to watch the tides coming in and out. Our Host Shanen was very friendly and helpful when it came to finding places and things to do in Tofino. I would rate the Inlet cottages in Tofino as "excellent"
