We had high hopes for Benz Tours after seeing some of the glowing reviews on here.
However, the shuttle driver arrived close to 2 hours late at Vancouver Airport for our 2pm pickup. We kept calling to try get an update, to which we were told that he was stuck on Lions Gate Bridge (for two hours?!). When the driver eventually arrived he had some elaborate story of some person crashing in front of him. However, we were just glad to be on the way back to Whistler after a long flight.
However, the driver was quite frankly dangerous. To start, he was on his phone for the entire duration of the drive through Vancouver, checking his texts, making phone calls and on Facebook, all of which was completely visible from my seat. He was barely looking at the road and cars in front, and had to slam the brakes on numerous occasions, as he was too busy checking his phone.
Finally we got out of Vancouver and were on the highway. The driver had finally stopped looking at his phone, but this was because he was struggling to stay awake at the wheel. He regularly swerved between lanes, slowing down and speeding up aggressively when he woke with a start. However, even other motorists honking their horns to let him know he was in their lane often did nothing to alert him. Once we reached Squamish, myself and the other passengers were so terrified there was talks of getting out and hitch-hiking the way back.
After a short break in Squamish, where the driver had bought himself a very large coffee after saying how tired he was, we continued on for another 20 minutes which was the only part of the journey when any of us felt remotely safe. However, he soon started to fall asleep at the wheel again, jolting with a start a number of times. I had to talk to him for over 30 minutes to keep him awake, which he told me he had done a lot of trips that day, starting very early in the morning, getting very close to the time he should have legally been driving for.
When we finally arrived to Whistler, he did not really know where he was dropping people off, and we were so scared and sick of the journey, we actually got off on the other side of Whistler to our home. All in all a terrifying experience, and would recommend paying slightly more for one of the other shuttle offerings so that you can arrive in Whistler safe and sound and not spend the whole journey fearing for your life.
My flight had been delayed, and i missed my 10am bus ride from Vancouver to Whistler by a few minutes. Instead of making me wait 2 hours, the company sent my own individual car free of charge. They're pleasant and caring and i'm grateful to be travelling with a company who cares about my well being !!
Great ride
Worst experience ever (and scary). The journey to Whistler was quite nice and the driver was very polite but the way back.....OMG.
The driver arrived 1 hour before the hour we agreed so we had to leave Whistler before we wished. The car was very dirty and the driver was finishing his burger when our journey started. When he finished it, he decided that it would be funny to find some wired videos on Facebook and show them to us (while driving). I just could not believe it when he turned back and gave me his mobile phone to see a 80-90 years old woman doing gymnastics. So dangerous! Then he decided to stop and get some petrol for the car (you arrive 1 hour before the hour we agreed and then you stop as you need petrol!!! Come on guy that's not professional!). We suspect that he didn't stop because of the petrol but because he was still hungry as he came back with a big pack of crisps. Once in the car, he opened the pack of crisps, he put it between his legs and he started to eat the crisps while he was driving with one hand. He dropped some crisps but he thought that he was too hungry so he took them from the floor and ate them instead of looking to the road, no jokes....very very scary. The speed was very high so it didn't help to calm down.
I hope the company takes note and does not use this driver anymore as he dangerous and so so unprofessional.
I picked this group because they were the cheapest I found online. The driver was very hospitable, but most importantly, when my flight was changed last minute he drove from and to Whistler again just for me after I had missed my booked shuttle time. This is an expensive endeavor for the company, and they did not charge me extra for this.
I cannot comment on their punctuality as I was obviously not a typical scheduled trip, but I am really grateful that they had my back in getting me to Whistler that day, which is really fantastic service.
I read the reviews after I had already booked and was a little worried they might not show up. However they showed up where they were supposed to and the driver was extremely nice. I would definitely book with them especially because they dropped me off right at my hotel.
After reading some of the trolls slagging these guys I was a little scared but Johnson was great. Picked us up on time and got us to Whistler direct with no hassle. You cannot beat this price getting to Whistler. One the way back to the Airport again they were right on time and got me to the airport with lots of time to spare. Just note what the traffic is like in Vancouver as these guys cannot control traffic delays. So if you are needing to go somewhere during rush hour give them the time necessary and you will have no issues.
