Four of us ordered a variety of items, fish tacos, Ok--veggie salad, lovely-- fish and chps, absolutely ordinary and overpriced-- and the grand disappointment, rack of lamb-- served cold and bloody. Cold. The side dishes were close to non existent. There is nothing great about the food, I predict its demise if the executive chef doesn't tune up the kitchen. The server was very good. But for a FISH restaurant, the actual count of menu items for fish was very saprse, and shellfish even moreso! Change the name or change the menu? (I ordered lamb because there was no choice in fish).

The restaurant has a cozy nautical ambience with great ocean views, the outside deck has heat lamps. We were fortunate to have a sunny day, we were able to enjoy the frittata, fish tacos & cold draft beer outside. All the entrees we saw looked delicious, menus had numerous options, service was great, we will return next time we are in Vancouver.

We ate here twice during our 10-day visit to Vancouver so obviously we liked it and Hook is a welcome newcomer to this district. Food quality is good and they know how to make fish and chips. The ambience is pleasant although horribly noisy on one of our visits. Service is cheerful and speedy but advice on wines and dishes tends to be restricted to what the waiters like, and one of our waiters clearly had more important things on his mind to pay attention to his customers.

I would give a good review, but there is one thing that was really bad - timing. We were waiting way too long for the food - one our for the main course, and after that - starters! I don't know why it took one hour to bring oysters and shrimps - this should take like 5-10 minutes. Also, eating oysters after the main course....

I found the service to be very good and the location is central although parking is tricky. Best to go for valet parking - $10.00. The food was very good although I think it was a bit pricey.
