This place isn't like a regular hotel. These suites are not luxury but great if you want to stay in the hot spot...

The lobby and suites are like old school apartments. The suite has a full size kitchen, good if you are stay more than a day or two. We stayed high up, there was balcony with mountains in the view. The best thing was they had a free limited first come first serve self parking, that is prime around this area. The room service was good and wifi had good signals.

The hotel is located on the main shopping street and has plenty of restaurants around including your coffee fix from Tims, Starbucks and bubble tea. The location is walking distance from Canada Place, Olympic Cauldron, and Stanley park.

We stayed 3 nights and had three different days of weather. One hot, one cooler and one rainy. We were on the 10th floor and the street noise was unbelievably loud. It was necessary to have the windows open due to the lack of air conditioning but we had pigeons flying in and landing on the floor by our bed so had to keep it closed. The cooler night was a great sleep except for the loud guests on our floor. The hallway is narrow and short (this is an old apartment building turned into a hotel) and all the doors are close together and bang shut. The noise started at 6:48 am on our last morning and didn't stop till we checked out at 10:00 am. If you are gone all day and don't mind the heat, it's a great place. Get a top floor room away from the street if possible.

When we arrived at the Tropicana on Friday evening, we were met with a reception that left a lot to be desired. The man behind the counter wore jeans, jacket and a baseball hat. We thought it was just because we were late arriving but in the morning the young man at reception was dressed similarly. When we tried to check out he was nowhere to be found. Another younger man said he'd gone to the bathroom. Finally a cleaning woman went to find him for us. Won't be staying in this threadbare, crazy making place again.

I found this hotel thru Booking.com....Which I have had extremely good luck with...

After reading reviews I was skeptical but it was for only one night as we were in town for a Hockey Game and leaving the next morning

I was pleasantly surprised.!!..While it is an older property, it was clean, comfortable and quiet..

With free parking and close to everything we will stay here again.

Oh and the rate was great too especially for a hotel in the City Centre...

We weren't sure what to expect with this place. We knew it would be dated, and it was, but we were thrilled to see that it was immaculate and comfortable. An excellent value for the price. We even got a fun bonus view of the city from the 12th floor. We would for sure stay here again.

Room Tip: Higher floors will have great city views
