I booked this room for my mom and sister for a week while my dad is in the hospital. The room looked ok at night. When they woke up the house had a stench of cat irine because all the windows were closed. They couldn’t get breakfast because cat feces was tracked through the whole house. People were gaging and couldn’t get breakfast. I demanded a refund but was charged more for the one night stay. I had to book somewhere else last minute. Do not stay!!!!

Reservations made 3 months in advance for 3 people. The confusion started the minute we arrived firstly when we could not find someone to check us in. we were finally escorted to a tiny rm in the basement that occupied one double bed.! we were "upgraded" to a "suite" at an additional cost. a sign in the bathroom politely asked that you don't get water on the floor when showering however for some unknow =n reason the bottom half of the shower curtain was missing. Woke up at 5 am to a woman standing over me asking me when I was leaving??? WTH??? Front desk staff missing!!!! Spent half day looking for an alternative accomadation for myself and teenage girl only to come up empty handed unless I wanted to pay upwards of 600 dollars. went out for breakfast and came back to have Asian cleaners piling up our belongings telling me to "go now, you go!" Front desk staff informed me I would have to change rooms. Next day same deal! Plus a fighting couple in the next room at 1am. minus the 5am visiter! Would have had a better night sleep in my car, and it has air conditioning. If your up for an adventure and a lesson in manderin this is the place. Otherwise steer clear!!!!

My first impression was wow this is cute, it was clean and simple. We had a ground level room. The room got very warm in the night as there is no AC, but there was a fan (thank god!). Breakfast was VERY simple, if you are gluten free I suggest bringing your own lunch, they had toast, muffins, bagels and hard boiled eggs.
The general manager was very accommodating to us as we had credit card issues but it was all sorted.
I do think it was a little over price for what you got but we are within a 3 minute walk to the trains (City Hall station) and what felt like a 10 minute train ride to the end of the line

Room tip: close to trains, friendly staff

My family was supposed to stay in Manor Guest House for a night. I was actually pretty excited when we arrived at the house because the garden was quite nice and the house looked pretty from the outside. When we got to the room, I thought the room was small but okay in general. It smelled little odd, but it was not that big of a deal. But I was apparently mistaken. It was not a-okay.

One of my family members woke up in the middle of the night (around 1am), feeling extremely itchy. So I decided to turn the lights on to see if there were any bugs in the room (I was expecting mosquitoes tbh). There were bunch of bed bugs crawling in our beds!!! SO MANY. Whenever we flipped the sheets, there were just more of them. It was absolutely disgusting.

I quickly got hold of the owners/hosts, and told them about the situation. So they came up to our room to check. After seeing those bed bugs, they apologized and offered to change the sheets and give us the refund. According to the owners, there was no other room available. We did accept the refund, but knowing that changing the sheets won't help much - it's not addressing the root cause - my family decided to leave the establishment. Before we left though, we asked them to get a medicine for the family member who was bitten everywhere, and the owner drove to shoppers to get an anti itch cream.

I wish to endorse Mike and Karen’s review. This is a great place to stay. It is not the Hilton but then you’re not paying Hilton prices. The presence of the cats has been greatly exaggerated and the place is not smelly. The bedrooms are small but experienced travellers can get around this. (We stored our biggest case in the bathroom). We tended to sleep in as we were doing a lot of walking taking advantage of the marvellous public transport system so breakfast had largely disappeared by the time we came to eat. It wasn’t great but we lashed out on our last morning and booked into Yolk on Broadway. As an 80 year old I found the climb up from the station hard going but younger fitter people should manage it easily. My 49 year old daughter had no trouble. Interaction with other guests was very interesting because you meet other experienced travellers who have more to speak about, this while eating in a beautiful garden. Linda, the manager is never hard to find. She’s nearly always in the garden. Free access to the washing machine and drier is a bonus.
