“Nice hotel in great location, interior feels a little tired”
Reviewed 7 March 2012

The Fairmont hotel is located in fantastic location in Vancouver and the building itself is very impressive with very nice original features. However once you leave the grandeur of the lobby and downstairs restaurants the hotel starts to feels a little tired. The rooms are very comfortable and offer all the amenities you would expect for the price and such a well know chain of hotels. I feel at the price being charged by the Hotel there are better alternatives on offer in Vancouver..............with friendlier front desk staff.

It's was an overall good experience. Location is great. The concierge was fantastic at seeing our limo was organized and it was an all around good trip. I recommend it.

Stayed at this property for one night before heading to Portland. Was provided with a gallery view room, two queen beds. The exterior of the hotel is nice and offers a great central location to shopping and attractions although the room itself was a little bit of a let down. I understand that the hotel is a heritage property although the furnishings in the guest room were marked and scratched and in my opinion required upgrading. The little stand holding the refreshment center was very small and I was afraid to open the door to the bar fridge with fear of being charged for something that I did not want. The bathroom had a different layout being a heritage hotel although the shower pressure was fine and I liked the marble floors. I found the attendant who checked us in to not be overly friendly although the one at check-out was a lot better. The pool facilities were excellent including the hot tub area and the lobby lounge offered exceptional service and food, at a reasonable price. I am happy I stayed at this property and would recommend it to others although for my taste I would rather choose a more modern style hotel such as the Hyatt.

My husband and I, along with our adult son, stayed at this wonderful hotel over Christmas. We could not have asked for a better holiday. We were on the 9th floor and the lounge was fantastic. Everything about the room was spectacular. We had friends in to visit and they were as impressed as we were.
The bathroom was small but really, how much room do you need in a bathroom? The room more than made up for that small thing. The separate living room / office was just wonderful.

The breakfast was more than good. It was magnificent. Mavis was the best hostess in the world!!!

We will go back again and again!!

The hotel was so incredibly decorated for Christmas - we did not feel like we were missing anything. The cookie basket left in our room was a bonus!!

Room Tip: Go for the Gold Floor.

unless your on a business expense account i wouldn"t bother eating there, $5.00 for coffee, come' on. $8:00 for a bottle of water, it's in the heart of downtown so great location to walk. Carpets were old and needed updating. but it is an old buildingfrom the 1930's. No safe in room, shower was oddly arranged. We never drove so not sure how parking is dealt with.

A beautiful hotel with all the amenities. Stayed on the gold floor and was treated like gold!
The concierge were so helpful with everything from internet connection to arranging for flight check in. Loved the pups and they loved the dog treats I keep in my pocket for my dog walks at home!
A beautiful grand hotel and very friendly staff, beautiful large room and very fast room service.
I would highly recommend this hotel in the heart of Vancouver and near enough to the harbour to enjoy a brisk walk.

Room Tip: Become a Fairmont gold member and enjoy the amenities on the 9th floor.

This is a remarkable Grand Lady of a hotel. At one time it dominated the city landscape with views from English Bay to Vancouver Harbor. Now it is surrounded by skyscrapers, and it is hard to catch a view of the mountains or ocean. Nevertheless, it remains a wonderful hotel in the heart of the city.

Bonuses:
- Wonderful lobby, attentive staff
- Spacious rooms with high ceilings
- Great health club with a good pool to swim laps
- only a block from the Canada Line for easy access to and from the airport
- good desk for working
- great bed with comfortable pillows

Negatives
- Desk chair is not great for working
- Daily housekeeping was excellent, but my room was in need of a thorough cleaning with major collections of dust bunnies behind the furniture.
- There were some issues with the card readers in the elevators as myself and others had trouble getting our cards to read properly and would end up getting whisked away to another floor
