With the new concept comes a refreshed food and beverage program-including 60+ wines by the glass-offered with the same on-point service, starting at 5:00 pm daily. The new menu features modern Canadian cuisine with subtle French, Italian and Asian influences and locally sourced ingredients. Accessible from both Homer and Hamilton St., Brix & Mortar offers 228 seats, with 80 situated over two outdoor patios, including the iconic outdoor courtyard-a favourite for hosted events and weddings. The downstairs space has undergone an exciting redesign, creating a fine-dining room suitable for any occasion or appetite.

Food excellent, service great, changed table to accommodate our party which was wonderful. The only problem was that we had to wait 45 minutes for the waitress to take our order. Do not know what was problem, but once ordered it was wonderful. Recommend eating at this restaurant.

We had a great dinner appetizer as well as the beef tenderloin entree and a super yummy peanut butter dessert so I would definitely recommend this place to any foodie oranyone looking for a great spot for dinner.

We took a party of 5 to Brix & Mortar to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. I refused the first table as our 89-year-old couldn't cope with the stairs and they instead found us a table in the beautiful courtyard. Couldn't fault the cocktails or the wine list (pricey, but not shockingly so). The scallops, tartar and pate were all excellent, but the stand-out starter was the nicoise, with a runny egg, a tube of tuna cunningly cooked so the outside was almost seared but the inside still raw, and the best french beans I've ever had in a long and boozy career of dining.

The main courses were mostly even better, with the steak and pasta both getting rave reviews. The only slight problem was that the halibut was elderly - not bad enough to send back, but certainly not fresh. The restaurant surprised us with a dessert wine each, and service was overall excellent at $100 each including wine and cocktails. So I might still prefer the Blue Water for the fish, but this is a better restaurant overall.

We visited Brix and Mortar as a group of four people. The menu was dirty and the service was a bit pretentious. Service was slow due to a wedding party. In spite of these deficiencies, the food at this restaurant is outstanding. This was our second time visiting the restaurant. I had the pork chops which were prepared in a Korean style. The portion was generous and the tastes were both creative (for my North American palate) and divine. Be ready for spicy/hot flavors arising from the various sauces. I loved it! My wife had the squid appetizer. So often, we see squid appetizers served up fried, sopped in oil. The chef’s interpretation of this squid dish was amazing too - large, flavorful strips of sauteed squid, layered on greens, and covered by a wonderful white sauce that really enhanced the dish. Prices at this restaurant are reasonable given the high food quality.

My friends & I decided to try BRIX & MORTAR on a whim (after a quick internet search for "Best Restaurants in Vancouver"). I cannot stress enough - from the very moment we walked in to the time we had to leave, the staff was absolutely SUPERB and offered the incredibly rare mixture of fun/playful/down-to-earth/personable service matched perfectly with knowledge of everything on the menu, from the ingredients to how each dish is prepared. We all opted to stay with cocktails (although the wine list was extensive and definitely tempting) and Mike - our stellar Server + Bartender for the evening - made sure our drinks were perfect and to our liking, and along with Simma (sp?) - (possibly the restaurant manger?) each course was served in perfect time, and while the mood/style of the restaurant was casual elegant (complete with a rocking 80's music mix!), the entire experience was absolutely perfect. And we tried a vast array of items on the menu - from the Prosciutto Wrapped Sea Scallops served with duck fried risotto (WOW) to the dreamy Beetroot Gnocchi (my favorite) and Pork Cheek Tagliatelle (Incredible). Near the end we were all stuffed, but at Simma's recommendation we all shared the mind-blowing Southern Strawberry Shortcake (cornbread cake, compressed strawberries, and vanilla ice cream hidden in a spiced pecan praline shell) sigh... HIGHLY RECOMMEND - and a big shoutout to Mike and Simma for turning 'Dinner' into such a memorable and altogether wonderful time experience. Thank you so very much!
